The aft and other second amendment infringements have been getting hit hard in the SC. There was also the recent EPA ruling that set a very good precedent for regulatory agency overreach. Doesn't matter what the AFT wants if it ends up in court they will loose.

Under the current Federal and rule making regulations that are created through a process known as rulemaking. By law, federal agencies such as ATF must consult the public when creating, modifying, or deleting rules in the Code of Federal Regulations.

The ATF is the enforcement branch. They are doing things with “rules and regulations” and trying to change laws by “reinterpreting” them.

The ATF does not make nor pass laws, Congress does. That is precisely the problem.and rarely has anyone stopped them over the yrs.

The President cannot get support so he and the Administration is trying to backdoor it. Where we are currently at though, is the plainly written text is “interpreted" to mean whatever the head cheese wants it to mean. This is done (in my opinion) as a way to get around the federal process of making changes to federal law. It's much easier (and faster) to “interpret” something to mean what you want it to, vs taking all the steps required by various laws. It also ensures that the agency is never wrong.

im glad the courts are hammering them

As @IPNPULZ said, stuff gets done that shouldn’t be, we can’t hold people accountable anymore, lawsuits take years and years and end up being a slap on the wrist when “daddy” is in the wrong. Will the good guys win? Probably, eventually, but it’s an uphill battle every day.

In other news, someone soon should make the argument that suppressors are “common use”.
In the words of Jay from PewScience “Normalize the use of suppressed small arms”.

Any tips or pointers for ar15 with an occasionally sluggish BCG?

I'm running a 10.5 DI 5.56 upper with a Surefire Socom. 90% its fine but every now and then it has trouble sending the BCG home on a new full mag. No FTE or FTFs, but I feel like it just doesn't run as smooth as it could be. Ive been putting on high temp grease on the BCG and guide rails on the upper. Lower is an Aero, buffer tube and spring are what came with the lower receiver. Performance doesn't change if I shoot unsuppressed. Ammo is brass cased, decent quality. Using a variety of mags: USGI aluminum, 30,40 and 60 rd, Surefire, Magpul, Lancer.

I've used Sprinco recoil springs for my pistols and have had good outcomes with them. However the ar15 has a lot more going on with balance so I'm cautious about just throwing random springs in to solve the problem.

Any experience with messing with different springs, buffer weights or special BCGs Id be interested to hear about it.

Pretty normal of the first round of a full mag, how many rounds through the gun (has it been broken in)? Mags also can need some braking in as well.

    Whole lotta stuff
Well if it’s only on the first round that tells you the gas system is running fine, that leaves either the magazine or buffer spring, and you said it wasn’t restricted to a particular magazine. As stated above, can try running it extra wet. If that doesn’t work, look at replacing the buffer spring. I like the Super 42 springs by Geissele. They say it has better return force than regular springs, but they have worked well from my experience.

Can you recreate the issue with a different upper or bcg? Or by putting your upper/bcg on a different lower

Continuing with my hypothetical "firearm" (thanks again to @95 taco for that graphic!), let's say I build a .300BO AR-15 pistol. 10.5" barrel, funky velcro rubbery arm brace. Obviously the intent would not to be shooting dime sized patterns at 100+ yards, but something a little shorter range. What would you recommend for sights? Iron? Red dot? Simple rail-mounted laser?

Fixed iron sights and a red dot. Can't beat the Aimpoint Duty for a simple red dot. It come with a mount and lens cover. Also has good battery life.
