That's the problem.....no local gun stores.....just 1 pawn shop that has a few guns and Wal Mart......guess I'd have to order from one of the FFL dealers everyone uses her.

CMMG is a good choice. Seems like PSA is getting it right. BCM, DD, LMT, and Colt are top of the line but still competitively priced as well.

    Now the dumb questions begin.
A friend of mine has an AR with the free-float tube. I really like the look and feel of it. But it looks the free float is not an easy on/easy off like a railed handguard. So if I go with the float tube.....it's there.....no changing.

Also...are most of these hanguards universal? (i.e. a carbine length Daniel defense handgurad will fit a CMMG carbine length rifle?)
    Any insight?

If I were you, I'd lurk at m4carbine.net for a while. Those are some serious dudes that know their weapons. You'll learn alot from reading. Just DONT post that you are thinking about getting a RRA unless you want someone to tear you a new one...

M4C is a great place to figure out what you want. I love FF handguards but there are a lot out there from cheap to expensive, very little tools required to needing a gunsmith install. Also consider the weight of each. Gotta do your homework.

In general, all AR15 pieces work with other manufacturer's AR15s BUT some rails are designed for different gas systems or to work with a FSB.

    Check out my sig...
    www.riflegear.com

Look at their "rifle gear" labeled uppers. They're DD ones made to RG's specs. Google it and look for posts on calguns.net. I didnt believe it either. Cheapest RG labeled upper is $599 (not bad for a DD upper).

    Also:
    Sig M400 - $869
    S&W M&P 16 Sport - $639

DSGArms has Spikes uppers in stock (just today) for $485 and free shipping iirc. Been waiting on mine but they also got in Noveske uppers so I picked up a Noveske N4 Light Recce basic 16" middy.

Well after heeding alot of advice....looking at post after post on forums. I learned ALOT!

Ordering the CMMG M4 LE.....found it online at US Auto Weapons in AZ for $749 + $32.50 ship...my dad's ordering a Desert Eagle 50AE 6" so we're splitting the shipping.
He's calling his buddy that has an FFL to get the paperwork faxed over.

Should have it next week :D

    Then to ACCESSORIZE!

Thanks for all the input and pointing me to the direction I needed!
