intersting bc you are the first person Ive seen say anything bad about the S&W MP15-22

    maybe you're using crap ammo?

I've got an HK 416 22LR that is fun and cheap to shoot. My son is learning to shoot on it. I don't have a picture of it but it looks like this.

The S&W 15/22 is the best. A dedicated upper is next... But honestly... just go buy her a Marlin 70P or a Ruger 10/22

What ZR said...easily 10,000rds through mine with zero major problems. I would have to guess MAYBE 2 dozen FTfeed's peppered in all that shooting.

    ... ^^^ ... I agree and I had a Ruger 10/22 as a kid. It was a great snake killer in the WV mountains. ... :D

    However, there is a bit of psychology here ... need a "semi-look-a-like-rifle" ... to transition her from .22 L/R to a AR-15 ... :D

Maybe I just have a lemon, I've tried several types of ammo and clean or after every time, don't fully load the mags, I've just given up and shoot my ruger 10/22

When did you buy it? Early models had an issue with the extractor being tweaked and not able to eject properly.

Get a 10/22. I won one at a shoot when I was 12. 20 years later with minimal care and it still works flawlessly. Love that gun.

Someone needs to put together a list of all the companies that are doing this kind of crap, so if and when it all blows over, we can collectively avoid these dicks in the future.
