I almost bought a Colt that was very similar to that around the first week of November. It was around 1200 at my local chain store.
Very happy I got talked out of that purchase.
I got so much more gun for only ~$200 more.

I bought the kit from GB, I was watching 10+ AK kits for sale, and picked the one that was the cheapest right before the auction ended, which was a almost 100%complete Polish parts kit, fixed stock, just missing the receiver. I got the rest of the parts of http://ak-builder.com which included the actual receiver, rivets, center guide, and US made and CA compliant parts like muzzle brake, trigger group, etc.

I'll take some pics this morning. Calguns.net has monthly AK build parties where gunsmiths teach and guide a whole group of people to build their AKs. It's usually a $80 fee and they provide you with all the equipment and tools to turn an AK parts kit and receiver flat into a fully functional AK. No need to register and no need for serial numbers (although it is recommended) either since it's considered home built.

    What I Paid:

    - $385 for full parts kit
    - $30 for receiver flat
    - $9 for rivets
    - $7 for center support
    - $30 for US made trigger group
    - $38 for CA Legal Mag Lock
    Total: $499 without magazines

ARP (http://www.ar15performance.com/) built the upper. It has an adams arms piston system. I bought the upper fully built, slightly used (30 rounds), with magazines, ready to fire, for $1300. I chose buy it now because i didnt want to risk missing out. I bidded on a couple PWS 7.62 piston uppers but they went all the way up to $2000 (just for the upper!).

AK mags dont fit in standard AR lowers, which is what I have. I posted a little bit up about a modular lower that takes AK mags.

Already gone. They must have had two cans in stock.

AIMSURPLUS has 5.56 in stock for 0.50 a round right now. Won't last long.
