Shit happens man. I'd save up and snag a set of Troy Battle Sights but thats just my $0.02. Nice looking gun, dig the BCM BCG. Seeing as how you are in Hampton Roads though if you have a buddy in the service you can snag a set at MCX Camp Allen for around $130. They have great prices on black rifle accesories but their guns & ammo prices are ridiculous.

If you're there for a while just keep your eyes open MCX Camp Allen has good prices on Accesories but that's it. The guys over at Bob's Gun Shop in downtown Norfolk are always great for help and I have heard really good things about the guys at The Armory.

I think i fixed my short stroking problems with the lighter spring but i get these FTFs quite a bit or double feeds.

Dirty guns, bad mags. Those are the easy ones.

You put a lighter spring but let me ask you what buffer you were/are using.

it is the non-marked standard carbine buffer. I did notice the wolf reduced power spring was a lot longer than the spring that came in my LPK. Brownells didnt specify whether the wolf spring was for a carbine buffer or rifle length buffer. It was just really really long. I have a rifle buffer I might try with the wolf spring to see if it works differently, but it definitely doesnt short stroke anymore, at least as far as i can tell.

I took some 400 grit sandpaper to my feed ramps just to clean up the edges when mine was new, worked great after that.

Mags would be the first thing I would look at. try several different ones including pmags.

clean the bcg realy good and lube her up while your at it.

also you shouldnt have to run different springs or buffers on a factory rifle. If different mags dont fix it I would send her in to manufacture and have them fix it.

Looks like a bad mag spring. You might try a heavier buffer to increase carrier dwell, but that's a bad mag spring.

First pic was a short stroke.

Other questions are, how old is the gun? Is it broken in? Did you give the surfaces a chance to wear in before you started swapping out parts? What kind of lube are you using? Gun lube, I mean.

It's not really a factory rifle. The upper is an Adams Arms 7.62x39 piston, and the lower is just a poly lower that I built from a stripped lower and PSA parts kit. I knew from the get go that there was going to be some fine tuning to get the set up to work properly. I've read on some forums that piston kits require less buffer and spring resistance because there is a lot more weight and resistance in the action.

The gun is pretty new, probably less than 600 rounds through it. Right off the bat, with the lower i built, it was short stroking every round, so I read up on it and swapped to a wolf reduced power spring, which cured the short stroke problem. I've been using Break Free CLP for all my guns. The AR has been staying really really clean after each outing, but I still clean it out. Most if not all the fowling inside the upper after shooting is just little shards of metal from the casing when they are being cycled i guess.

Humor me. Try a different carrier. I saw this behavior happen due to a carrier bing machines wrong where the key mounted. It only happened once and you asked for common but it never hurts to try.

On another note got out to the rockpile in corona to test some new load work ups for an upcoming Texas pig hunt.
    6.8x43 SSA case, CCI41, AA2200 27.2 Hornady 120SST. 100yards. 5 rounds.

Good improvement over this target which was .2 grains less of AA2200.

Headed back out this weekend to adjust zero and chrono as well as get drops from 50 to 300 with a 200 yard zero.
A pic of the rifle I hunt with.

The tan one is definitely fake. The edges around the magpul logo looks too rounded and most of the fake ones don't have thread locker on the bolt
