sweet, with the new ASC mags, my 7.62x39 piston AR finally works. Now my only problem is light primer strikes with the russian ammo. Probably need to pick up a wolff heavy hammer spring somwhere.

i don't know if it would help, but for AR uppers chambered in 5.45, alot of guys swear by Geissele triggers for surplus ammo

in case you were wanting the $200 solution :|

Ordered the parts for me to put together my lower this morning, should only need a complete upper and charging handle once the stuff I ordered comes in. Building my first AR...I think this may end up addictive

    Check build in sig.
I just bought a lower, time to start making a parts list.

    Any recommendations are welcomed.

I am going to build the lower first and then do a free float upper.

I have An Enhanced Lower Parts Kit I sell that uses a Battle Arms Development ambi safety and ALG QMS trigger with options to upgrade to Geissele triggers.
    http://shop.ironworkstactical.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AOI-LPK-E

Or a bare bones kit without trigger set and grip so you can choose your own parts.
    http://shop.ironworkstactical.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AOI-LPK-BB

Amongst many other parts to choose from.

Depends on what you're doing really. I use a SSA-E for my hunting rifle as it has a nice light break. I use a SSA for a carbine of mine but I'm also very used to light triggers on my run and gun firearms. I also run the ALG QMS on a carbine of mine which is tuned by Geissele but more of a clean heavier trigger 4.5-5.5 lb pull. I really like this trigger a lot for the price and slightly heavier pull weight for a combat or duty type rifle as its not as light or sensitive as the two previously mentioned.

The SSA and SSA-E have definite breaking points as does the G2S (a less expensive SSA basically). The S3G does not and is very hair triggerfish feel, I do not recommend it unless you have tons of training under your belt (I don't even personally like it). My buddy runs it and loves it but it definitely takes some getting used to.

I hope that info helped. If not ill try again.

Last iteration for a while. Goal is a truck gun that will ring a 3 MOA gong out to 300 yds. The 1-4x Vortex should be enough magnification and the chrome lined barrel is far more accurate than it should be for the brand it was sold under. It's got a suppressor mount on it but it'll be zeroed for use without. I'll make a note of comeups for use with a can, at least on the vertical. A Geissele SSA keeps the groups tight with 62 gr OTMs loaded over TAC.

First builds I normally recommend people use PSA since they are quality parts and customer service is reasonable. No offense to Brett and Ironworks since I do not know the products so I can't saying pro/con about him. I have finished a total of 9 ARs in the past year and can say without a doubt that my PSA experience has been awesome. Normally I can finish a quality rifle for under $700. Any extras get added on later, though lately I have been selling them to friends and family for at cost or a little more. Building your AR will become addictive as anyone who has finished one will tell you and your not going to settle for that 1. Good luck on it. I have just finished my first SBR and can't wait for the next one to be done; damn ATF takes their time on the stamps! lol

I'll hop on this one - Geissele triggers are great...but, I highly recommend shooting a few different ones to get the feel that you are most comfortable with.

I personally shoot the SD3G, SDE, and SDC on all of my guns. I find the straight triggers allow a better precision shot (straight and light trigger pull) at long distances and the short reset and crisp / light break allow me to shoot very quickly and accurately at short distances.

The SSA is a good all around trigger and has a heavier feel / break than the SD series. As Brett said...training and your skill with the AR platform should absolutely play into your trigger decision.

The great thing about triggers is you can always upgrade / change them out when you feel you've reached a different level or want to go for a different setup.

A few weeks ago I bought a pair of new 'Double D' AR-15 Lowers, at introductory price, thinking I was going to build up a .22 and .308 AR.
Decided not to. Haven't tried to build them up, still in wrappers. I've got $370 in them and will sell them for $350 for the pair if interested. They are consecutively numbered. Buyer responsible for transfer and fee in Denver area.

There was a bunch of chatter and development pics on the CO-AR-15 forum:

I can vouch for Brett, totally stand up guy and an asset to the AR community. If you decide on a caliber other than 5.56, he's who you want to talk to, and an expert on the Republic of California's archaic law system.

I too would recommend PSA, I use them for all my vanilla builds these days and have even SBR'd a few of them. Great spec lowers.

If you want something exotic, go with the Noveske. That way if you want to sell it, that name makes it worth more than most.
