Both are top tier. Neither is a poor choice. I prefer the sight picture of an EOTech, but you do change batteries a bit more.

 

Those compensators are cheap...im really leaning to trying them out. Wonder why others are so expensive. Is it just kuz of the name?

 

Totally agree, i have a 512 and a xps3. I have never had to change batterys in the 512 in like 5yrs. Love the xps which only uses 1 battery and is very short and compact.

 

Because of the materials used, the coating's on them and some actually work.

 

I was sold on the Aimpoint, until I was at a shop in Anaheim and a guy there had two rifles, with one of each. He let me look through both. He said he liked both, but thought the reticle on the Eotech was slightly better. (His preference). After looking through both, I agreed.

 

Great lil red dot... Have had one a couple years, easy cowitness with .83 UTG riser

 

How does that compare to the exps2?

 

Brand new Tricjicon ACOG on my Rock River, with the RMR backup sight on top! I really dig the cool Pelican Case it comes in My brother put my old Eotech on his G3.

 

I think the exps is just a extreme version of the xps. Im not sure what the details are as far as the actual differences.

 

The EXPS series has a 7mm riser built in, side buttons instead of rear buttons and a quick-detach throw lever. XPS and EXPS are both a significant step forward from the 511/512. Battery life is better, shorter, lighter, the levered battery compartment has been replaced with a threaded cap, etc.

 

Here's a good shot of my EXPS - not as small as an aimpoint micro but more compact than a standard aimpoint or a 511/512.

 

That's sweet. Ok, the EXPS is the one I've decided on.

 

im not even going to put iron sights on mine..

 

I always end up leaving my optics on after shooting and they run out of batteries so most of the time Im using my BUIS anyways hahaha

 

Because anybody can shoot using a red dot or scope, but learning to shoot with irons takes a real marksman. Them when you take what you learned using irons you can shoot even better with optics. Theres just something awsome about making a perfect shot using irons. Its like being Matthew Quigly with a Sharps.

 

I have red dots, but it's more challenging and more fun to shoot with iron sights. To me the most fun part of a new gun is sighting the irons in.

 

I don't have to worry about battery dying. The aimpoint claims 10000 hours plus there's 2 spares in my rifle.

 

Also for irons I'm digging those lwrc skirmish or the Troy di optics. (Diamond shaped sights)

 

Apparently him and Wyatt Earp will fight evildoers together...

 

I'm more concerned with recreational shooting than I am with SHTF stuff. I'm going red dot, baby!
