here is my first and last ar15. looking forward for my jd machine 308.

it isn't nothing crazy. it is a palmetto state armory lower, with all fde magpul moe set, timney trigger, adams arms piston upper, with eotech xps2, magpul back up rear sight, troy flip up front sight and ares armor muzzle break.

i really the sight. best sight for me and how i shoot. i learned to shot with iron sights and with both eyes open. so with the eotech i can shoot with both eyes open and the red dot doesn't move, right out of the box the sight was really close at 200 yards.

Guy at the local shop said you needed to close on eye to use it. Is this true?

he is right. no it isn't true. you can shoot is with one eye closed or have two eyes open. i had my girlfriend shoot with one eye closed at 85 yards and she grouped about 8 inches apart and then had her do the same thing with both eyes open and she grouped about 6 inches apart. so it is really up to you at the end of the day.

If my ACOG ever breaks, I doubt the weapon would even be safe to fire, plus no batteries.

My 556 AR which I barely shoot has the Primary Arms optic with 3x Magnifier. Only drawback is battery life. I have to keep a conscious mind on turning it off when Im not using it

My 7.62x39 AR which is my primary range toy just has iron sights:

I did the same thing on my 16" AR build...kinda. Went from a Burris 1x4 with a fast fire red dot to an EoTech 512 then back to a Nikon 3x9 which is still on there. I'm saving the EoTech for my SBR build but I will probably swap the 512 for an XPS and a 3x magnifier.

Not too framiliar with this stuff, but isn't it discouraged to put a MBUS front sight on a gas block? I thought I heard the heat can damage it.

the 556 is supposed to be more accurate so I think the optic with magnifier would be better suited for it. The 762 is a bigger and more powerful round so I figure as long as I land the round on target, he/she will be down for the count hahaha

I saw a beat-up old A1 at a gun shop last month, the old style with the triangular forend. I really wanted it, but they were asking wayyyy too much for it. Love to turn a full length AR into a varmint rifle.

definitely better to go with troy... MBUS is better on free float rails, better heat dissipation.

To the guys reading this thread, who are new to the AR15 platform and are looking for a very reliable gun: Here you go - - - - COLT6920

This is the Toyota Tacoma of the AR15 world. It is thought of by many as the highest standard for an off the shelf carbine. This is due to many factors but mostly because COLT fills so many mil. contracts.

I'm not saying this is the best AR you can buy but it is a very good price ($950) for a very good weapon.
