Are these things still easily available? I haven't checked the market on AR's recently. I'm guessing overpriced?

If your talking about the 6.8 yes they are but pricy. 6.8 ammo is really hard to find though

Hmmm. Are they overpriced? I'm thinking of getting a 22. Even though we have one already, why not get another? Even though I won't shoot 22 until prices drop. Which will be never.

Mainly looking for 22, but 223 5.6 would be nice as well.

Not sure about where you are but you can get an AR here in north TX for around $650 for a stripped down version and a nicely equipped one for around $850.

You know you can buy a .223/5.56 upper and get a drop in .22 bolt right? best of both worlds

the CMMG drop in kit is the best drop in kit, but if you are really going to do it I would buy the CMMG upper or the Spikes Tactical upper they are complete.

The drop in model's as you can imagine with anything are not going to provide the quality as say a complete upper built for it.

I do 7.62x39 and 9mm, etc.. conversions for some people that buy AR's from me, and I always do complete rebuilds so they have an upper for their 5.56 and then a complete system for whatever else they bought.

When buying a stripped lower, does it make a difference what caliber is stamped on the lower? (ie. .223, 5.56 or "multi")

I am getting one for my birthday and plan on a slow build. I would however eventully like to get a 300 blackout upper. Would having a "5.56" lower affect this. Sorry for the newb question

No you are only replacing magazine, bolt, and barrel you can have the multi or .223/5.56 marking.

Also if you are not into reloading, I would buy one of the starter kits Hornady makes a really nice one, because 300 blackout is awesome, but if you are not reloading your own ammo it is a pointless build basically.

Ok thanks! Yeah that would be a couple years down the road for the 300 blackout, but I have heard that reloading is the way to go for that round.

Trust me if you are not reloading for that round, either you have money to BURN and time to waste hunting it down...or you have one serious sugar momma haha :)

Anyway Hornady makes an awesome starter kit and its always fun to learn new things, I personally have been doing my own because of my .308 I only shoot federal sierra match king and I want those brass back after I shoot.

PSA is some of the best AR parts in the business because FN who located near them makes the barrels for their rifles. FN also has the military contract for the M4 and M249 saw. Almost all of my customer builds are based on a PSA lower, upper, barrel, and everything else is what they want FF rail, Magpul Furniture, etc....

Watch the torture test video of what a PSA rifle can handle.....whenever someone ask me what part's I will be using I show them this video first. It takes tannerite tightly wrapped to make basically homemade explosive to break the gun, they change a part out and it fires like a dream....if this doesn't prove how quality they are I don't know what will.

should read "a". We have a few FN M4's in our vault but 19 out of 20 are colt. But I agree with PSA being good. I've built 4 or 5 rifles using their uppers and build kits and had no problems.
