I was just waiting for a tax refund, friend wanted a budget build so we got a $499 upper when it was on sale for $399.

    I went with a spike's tactical

Only got to run 2 mags through her today. Temp dropped to 3 plus 25mph winds make the range no fun. Did get to shoot my buddies suppressed AR though that was sweet.

Anyone have any Mega Arms? I'm building an AR with their billet lower and mid-length megalithic upper.
Almost got all the parts for assembly. Down to the barrel and muzzle brake. Barrel should be shipped by this weekend.
I keep saying this will be my last build but a buddy keeps telling me this is only the beginning.

I have a Mega Arms forged upper paired with a Spikes Tactical lower. Great quality and the finishes match great. The fit has no play, nice and tight.

Just assembled my first AR lower today and I think I did just about everything twice... I used the wrong spring for the bolt catch release so I had to pop the roll pin out, then I ended up with spare parts... :anonymous: I missed the disconnect spring and had to tear apart the trigger assembly to install it. I think I have everything together correctly now, the steps I used gave function tests and it passed so all that's left is live fire! Only other 'oh shit' moment was I put a small ding on the receiver punching the roll pin in the second time

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
i had slight scuffs on mine too. i did what someone else suggested and pused a print out of the parts to lay them on and to be sure which was which. made my first time a breeze.

I have an AR15 TekMat and was following a write up and still managed to make a couple mistakes. I have another build in the future and I think that one will be a breeze. I'm very glad I did it though, same mentality as the truck, I like to do things my own, not buy them.

I used youtube videos for my first 2 builds and now I have it memorized. Still need a picture of the trigger and hammer assembly though so I dont mess up the way the spring sits on those parts.

The detent and pivot springs are fairly easy as they are sized to fit perfectly in the holes they are meant for, takes a lot of the guess work out.

I built mine, buddies upper got here before his parts kit, so I took mine back out. Installed it in his gun, then installed his kit in my gun a few days later. After installing 3 times I have it down and can do it in no time

This one will be my cheap, down and dirty shooter. It was a budget build, PSA LPK, PTAC upper, bought the lower on a group buy so I'm into it for about $400, then an additional $60 to have it made MA compliant. I have another one that will be built up completely. I have a stripped upper and lower set, RRA LPK and still undecided how I want it to go together but I have some ideas in my head.
Awesome, thanks! I had watched a couple youtube videos in the past, should have put them on again.

They definitely won't be safe queens. I'm not upset about them having a scratch, I'm just disappointed in how it happened. I was hoping it'd at least make it through assembly looking nice and clean. Oh well, can't wait to get some lead through it!

I usually use the write up on AR15.com. It has served me well so far.

by my third lower build I was blindly throwing hammers at the lower receiver until the pins were in place. Also it doesnt matter if it is properly torqued or cross threaded, tight is tight.
Those write-ups are super detailed! Very great to make sure you did it 100% correct.
