:D I'm lucky to have the hookup - my buildout price is nowhere near that. I can go Daniel Defense for about $150 more than Del-Ton (and still save several hundred off a Colt), but the DD barrels don't have pinned blocks - just bolt-on and for a KISS gun with irons I prefer taper pins for my FSB.

    From their Arfcom page:

We've found there's a little bit of misconception about our products. People think because we haven't raised our prices, then we're not doing the "upgrades". Well, we'd like to let everyone know that we've upgraded our standards!! These are the things we are now doing to EVERY rifle (or associated part) that leaves here....

    - All flat tops have the extended M4 feed ramps
    - All bolts are MP/HP tested
    - If you order an upper or rifle with a flat top, it will have an F Marked front sight base
    - Our carriers are properly staked, and sealed
    - All barrels are parkarized under the gas block
    - We only use taper pins on our barrels
    - All barrels are made of Chrome Moly Vanadium. CMV is an upgrade from the standard chrome moly. We also have the option to chrome line the barrels, or not, and you can chose a 1x7 twist or a 1x9 twist on most profiles.
We offer all of these options to you, as the consumer, so you can chose what you'd like. We don't tell you the options, we let you decide exactly what you'd like.
    - As always, each and every upper or rifle that leaves here has been test fired, not a single one leaves the place without having that done

Hopefully this clears things up a little. Please let us know if you ever have any questions!

Seems like they're trying to get better. Specs are specs - I think I'll try them out. I'll post a pic if I do.

Decided............to spend the money on a Vortex PST 1-4x for my SBR. Is there a SDMR class? lol

Definitely looks badass, we'll see how she shoots. There's a 12" gong out at 250 yds at my club. If I can ring it reliably off a sand bag I think I'll finally be done with my SBR for a while!

    Those are nice.
I think they are the best in their price point.

Haven't done a proper photo shoot but here's a quick one. THe sight looks tight under there and it is, but there is clearance. The only contact is on the edge of the rubber eyering. I'll probably pick up a lower profile sight.

    Thanks - Midwest Industries SS-series rail. It's a 10" rail over an 11.5" barrel.

Does anyone have an opinion they would like to share about the Sig 516?

I'm looking at getting an AR-15, and even though piston costs more, I like the engineering behind it over direct impingement.

I looked at getting a 516 a couple months ago and like you I love the piston concept because of the AK legacy.

One of the negatives, IMO, on the Sig 516 (and the SR556) is your choice in handguards. Sig's classic patrol or Sig's carbine length quad rail. This was a big turn off for me because I hate both of those.

another problem I had with it, you cant use a BAD lever because of the machining of the lower.

I know those arent huge issues, but I like my rifles in a certain configuration.

however, if those little nitpicky dont bother you, I have no doubt in my mind that the Sig would be an awesome black rifle.

I bought a Redfield scope 2yrs ago Black Friday at Cabela's for my AR. I sight it in every once and a while for longer range shooting - I think it's a 3.5-9x iirc. Very solid, nice glass, nice range finding reticle, and only $120 :D
