Alg is a upgraded milspec type trigger, less than $100. Or step up to a CMC drop in for about $150-160. I love my CMC.

I think I'm going with the ALG ACT.

What is the best place to order parts from? I need a few things for my AR, an armorers tool, one of those punch block thingies, and some spare detents and springs.
    I'm thinking brownells.

I like brownells for parts, they are awesome to deal with

I'll have to go on their site and check it out.

Stripped down my lower to send it to the engravers, gonna get my trust info engraved, and the engraver designed a Gadsden/Ms flag design I like.

I'll compare prices, they both have good reps, and Larry Potterfield seems pretty honest in his ads.

So I'd like to fix my issue with my .556/.223 upper (under gassed when warm).
I believe the gas block is leaking when warm (After about 25 rounds I start getting FTE's and short stroking), will I need to replace the gas block?
How do I get everything lined up properly (I'm sure there's a video on youtube, but I don't know which ones are BS and which are good).

The upper was built by rohg industries, it is a mid length gas system, 18'' barrel, HBAR.

As far as YouTube goes, NSZ85 makes some very good AR-15 build videos. I used his video for building lowers when I built mine.

How difficult is it to assemble your own upper? I don't mind buying the vise and I have the barrel wrench. I'll be purchasing a BCG already assembled so I won't have to mess with that. Are there any pitfalls with getting the gas system to operate properly? I'm going with a low profile block and it's a carbine length system. I assembled the lower and have put the forward assist and dust cover on the upper already.

If you have a vice, action block and wrench it's easy. Hardest part for me has been getting the roll pin started in the gas block. They sell roll pin holders and pin punches, I highly recommend them.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. I have punches and a vice. I was planning on buying an action block to install the barrel but that last post made me nervous. Wasn't sure if there was something with the gas system that I could be overlooking and requires a good bit if experience to set up.

Make sure that roll pin punch set includes a holder. The handgaurd should unscrew using two studs on the wrench you're ordering. It really is pretty straight forward. Only hangup I've really had was on those roll pins and a few front sight posts with taper pins. Those can be a bitch. If you're using a low profile gas block with set screws that isn't going to be an issue

OK, there's no holder with the roll pin punches (I got these ones) but I can make a holder if I find it a necessity.
Looking at the hand guard it appears that the barrel nut is a fancier one that has a small bridge to make the hand guard rail and the uppers rail appear to be one piece, so I may try a strap wrench to break it loose.

The gas block is a low profile one, underneath the hand guard, it appears to use pins instead of set screws to clamp.

I'm gonna recommend a new handgaurd if its in the budget

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Did a little range time with the Spikes AR.

50 yds, nothin but irons. Target is life size.

Got my hand guard off (figured out it was a UTG quad rail, simple research showed me how to remove).
There is a lot of carbon on the gas tube on the gas block end, is there anyway to determine where this is coming from? I'll get some pictures up when feel like getting up and getting a good camera.

Got the gas block and gas tube off, attached are videos of the gas block and BCG end of the gas tube, and the picture is of the gas hole in the barrel (Diameter is slightly larger that a 5/64ths punch).

    Hey guys,
I live in CT where AR's are considered evil. My brother bought an AR22 setup from a less than reputable shop and the thing runs like crap. My impression is that they bought a polymer complete lower and polymer complete upper from MidwayUSA or some comparable place and snapped them together. However the lower had a polymer hammer and the 22 bolt was too narrow for the hammer to fit into as it is about twice as wide as a steel hammer. They sold it to him with the hammer not striking the bolt, but getting hung up on the bolt rails because they pay that little attention. Most of why he bought it was that it was a "legal?" way of getting a lower. But we would like to get this thing up and running. They shaved down both sides of the hammer to make it fit, but it is getting light strikes among other issues.
I bought a Boonie Packer Better Mag adapter hoping my 15-22 mags would help iron out some of the feed issues, but it wont quite fit, which leads me to beleive that it is a DPMS or Tactical Solutions because the Boonie site says they wont work with those companies, and both companies sell relatively cheap uppers that would be the kind the shitty gun shop would go for.
I think I am going to try to file down the boonie to get it to fit the contours of the upper better, and am going to try a steel hammer.
I know there is not a lot of failure info here as it has been a while since it has been fired, but are there any suggestions?
