I like the idea of an 80% lower but it is intimidating

I'm starting to see why people stay away from them and what not. Like I said though, it was free and could be something I can do over time with more and research and tool acquirement. Thanks for the help!

They are pretty cool, they just take some initial "startup" cost to get going. Like the jog (80-150 bucks), drill (if you dont have one), and any other tools needed (some jigs use routers) so you could be looking at 200-250 bucks plus the 50 or so for a 80% lower. So say 300 bucks for everything. Most people i know dont have more than 1 or 2 AR's so its still cheaper to just buy a lower. If you get a group of local guys who share a jig or have build parties it can be worth it though.

I do believe that I own each of the model scope rings that you list above. My least favorite is the P-Series, followed by the PEPR. My favorite is the M223 XR rings as they have that 20 MOA slope which helps when sighting in a rifle to reach out and touch something a long ways away.

That said they are all good scope rings. With a useful range of around 500 yards from the 6.8, I'm thinking that each should do the job ok for you...

NES build parties will help you figure it all out.

X2, go to a build party, and if you blink accidentally, the 80% becomes 100%. They make it pretty intuitive, and if you fuck it up, most places will give you a new one.

I still stand by my Lucid. I was headed to range and checked my optics before going and it didnt work. Opened the battery well to find a battery that puked and a bunch of corrosion. Spoke with Jason at Lucid and he will attemp repair. If it can be fixed it will be 0.00 if it cant he will give me a heavily reduced price on a new one. He also advised that most batter manufacturers warranty whatever their battery ruins. I will call Duracell tomorrow to see how they will handle this. The battery is marked as being good till March of 2016.
