I do. Before I moved to the land of no ranges I shot 3gun or uspsa almost every weekend. With factory ammo I never had a malfunction in my AR (learning curve in rolling my own). I very rarely saw one in general. Most of my friends still compete. It's incredibly uncommon to hear of someone with a rifle malfunction.

My Glock 35 has been trouble free as well. I don't know how many rounds it's had through it but it belonged to two GMs before me, so...a lot. I didn't even replace springs for the first season I shot it.

Making a more reliable AR is like making a more durable anvil. There is a very real law of diminishing return. I don't see where an external piston offers any advantage, but I can point out several flaws.

But I have ranted about this before and in the end I don't give a shot. Not my rifle. If it makes the owners pecker hard, more power to them

Love my 2 adams arms rifles. Got a piston Serbu upper on the way to finish up my piston pistol build. The chambers and receivers are just that much cleaner after a long day of shooting and I spend less time cleaning. Less recoil too. I love my DI guns too, they are lighter

    Nice M&P.
It took me a few months to decide I wanted to paint my AR, in the end I decided if I didn't like it I could try to remove the paint and if not all the furniture and parts (Except lower) are replaceable.
I like how it really breaks up the outline of the rifle when I'm hiking, an all black AR sticks out in the woods around here.

It is only to save a nickle, much like Kimber's choice to sell guns with one magazine. Lame and I love both mfrs.

I think much of what L says below bout the piston driven rifles. On the other hand I feel the good companies can build accurate battle rifles. Mentioned below, one being AA. They just kick ass. Gas on or off my AA would run circles around the losing Sig's.
Dan's(a shooting partner and freind) HK MR is a tack driver and I have put rounds downrange a couple of our sessions and it is one of the finest rifles I have shot. The price is hefty but, they also figured it out.
Did not shoot any .556 and honestly never buy it. It is far easier and cheaper to reload .223 than buy .556
Never expecting to blow the back end out of beer bottles through the mouth with the sig or a weapon intended for combat, I at least want consistent groups not measured with a paper plate. It wasnt even happening at 50 yards. With that said, I have no definitive answer.
Or maybe I do, I think Sig could pay attention. There I said it. My recovery has begun :).

Hey L. How's the White Dragon? Hope the fam is well.

Have yall ever seen a mag cause fte problems? My 7.62 pistol is acting odd. Shot fine for the first 120rds when I got it together. Shipped it home then a few months later every 2 rounds it jams. It's not ejecting the spent round, then jams it and the fresh one into the chamber. I tested both mags initially. Now I loaded 5 rounds into both and cycled them by the charging handle. One did fine, the other would do fine for first 2-3 rounds then it wouldn't pick up the new round. It would eject fine, but wasn't loading a new round. That same mag was not ejecting when I shot it afterwards, just like the original problem, and with the other it ran fine. I'm glad the rifle runs fine with the one mag, but I still find it odd what's going on with the other. Especially when it ran both mags fine originally. Both ASC 30rd 7.62 mags

Maybe try changing the springs from one mag to the other and see if the problems switches mags

Rear main leaking some oil, and I may have a driver side birfield on the way out (random click when turned sharp). Fucking mushy spring snow is hard on stuff. I'll dig into this weekend and if it's not seaworthy for the May day expedition we'll be in the taco. Other than that everything is tits! You?

Ah, I am sure you know but make sure it is not the pan gasket. It's seaworthy, fact.

Might be the pan gasket. Just leaving a dime sized drop when it's parked, no biggie. I've put a few thousand miles on it, mostly in the woods!

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) annual ammunition purchases have declined since fiscal year 2009 and are comparable in number to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) ammunition purchases. In fiscal year 2013, DHS purchased 84 million rounds of ammunition, which is less than DHS’s ammunition purchases over the past 5 fiscal years. DHS component officials said the decline in ammunition purchases in fiscal year 2013 was primarily a result of budget constraints, which meant reducing the number of training classes, and drawing on their ammunition inventories. From fiscal years 2008 through 2013, DHS purchased an average of 109 million rounds of ammunition for training, qualification, and operational needs, according to DHS data. DHS’s ammunition purchases over the 6-year period equates to an average of 1,200 rounds purchased per firearm-carrying agent or officer per year. Over the past 3 fiscal years (2011-2013), DHS purchased an average of 1,000 rounds per firearm-carrying agent or officer and selected DOJ components purchased 1,300 rounds per firearm-carrying agent or officer. DHS ammunition purchases are driven primarily by firearm training and qualification requirements.

Dude sometimes I burn through that in a couple of weekends.

Just ordered one of these for my 10.5" pistol from aim surplus. Anyone have any experience with them or with the nickel boron process in general?
