Thanks for the input! That's exactly what I've been reading about them on ALL their reviews. I may be making a purchase this weekend :p

Yeah my current AR is a little big for my wife so I figured she'd like the shorter barrel a lot better. It would stay at home and only be shot at a private range.

Just bought my lower receiver today!

It's an Anderson, just going for the inexpensive build.
Anyone have any parts they want to sell cheap/give to a first timer AR15 build?! :)

I finally had some time to get the new 6.5 to the range yesterday. I put just 20 rounds thru it to be sure it cycled and to see wh r e the scope was. It was alittle low and left but the grouping was awesome. I will push back to 200 next time and remember to get pics

That's a 16" barrel? I don't know why but it looks longer to me. Maybe the way the rail is configured

Got a check in the mail from Dept. of Treasury today so I think I'm gonna finish my 6.8 upper with it.
I lack sights, what should I get? Ideally i would get a nikon and mount, but I think iron sights would work well for now and I could put them on my 5.56 upper when I build it.
    MBUS or MBUS pro?
The front sight doesn't have to fold, but ideally the rear one should. (Front sight on my 5.56 upper will be a YHM folding front on the gas block).

Or I could get a decent red dot, possibly with a FTS magnifier. (I'm thinking aim point PRO)

Yep16" with 15" KMR. I'm gonna take the polymer hand guard off. I did a few mag dumps today just to see how it ran and the rail never got close to hot. I needed to move it forward a little anyway. I think that's why it looks so long.

I have the MBUS and they're fine. Granted I haven't beat them against rocks.

I don't plan on beating mine on rocks so they should be good.

I'm thinking of getting the MBUS pro set for my 6.8, and then getting a 5.56 upper (has a standard A2 front sight post) and getting a regular MBUS for the rear sight.

I like everything about this upper except that it's a slick side, but I have a stripper upper with a parts kit that I can put together and just put the parts on it.
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...de-upper-without-handgaurds-no-bcg-or-ch.html
and I already have an (almost) complete BCG to go with it so all I need is cam pin, firing pin, firing pin retainer, charging handle, and hanguards to finish it up.

I'd go with the MBUS Pro as the MBUS might interfere with whatever optic you choose in the future. The pro is much more low profile.

Whoever told you to avoid Colt must have been hitting the ol' crack pipe. Colt rifles are good to go.

If I were building a rifle today, it would look a LOT like the one pictured in Post #12305 (just above this one). BCM (sold by Bravo Company USA) is a good place to start.

    How about a 16" lightweight CHF barrel with a 15" KMR? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-...KMR15-KEYMOD-p/bcm-urg-mid-16lw-bfh-kmr15.htm
