Ah. At first glance I thought they were stippled. How do they compare to the rest of the market?

They're equal to any other polymer bodied mag on the market with the added feature of color coding.

This is why I like a pinned front sight. Nothing more rugged, and it doesn't have to mean a non-freefloated setup.

    My go-to carbine.

    going to be fun!
I have both the 516 and 716 and absolutely enjoy both but the weight of the 716 is a bit heavy but I would not get rid of it....

The 516 and 716 is sighted in @ 300 yards .93-1.56 inch groups....

Anyone have a link to a video or pointers on switching out a basic handguard to a 15in free float? Putting one on this rifle. I'm gonna be shaving the front sight/ bayonet lug/ sling swivel instead of replacing the gas block. I've found some just figured I'd check in here first.

You need an armorers wrench. I have the smith enterprise one. And the brownells front sight block tool and taper pin starter punch. If your muzzle device is pinned and welded on, you have to have a gunsmith remove that, then you need a low profile gas block to put in place of the front sight block, or cut off the sight triangle and lugs in bottom. You will have to spend a decent amount of money to do this yourself, or to have a gunsmith do it.

    1. Remove handguard,

    2. Remove front sight block using brownells tool and taper pin punch, (or gunsmith)

    3. Remove barrel nut.

    4. Use snapping pliers to remove delta ring from barrel nut. (Assuming you still need GI barrel nut)

    5. Remove gas tube from FSB, install onto LPGB

    6. Install barrel nut

    7. Install gas block and tube.

    8. Install new handguard

    9. Reinstall or get new muzzle device.

A buddy has the M&P sport. Its a great basic gun. Nothing fancy about it but it shot flawlessly and was pretty accurate too

The other option, if using a hand handgaurd that uses the factory nut

    Remove hand guard

Cut bayonet lug and triangle off of front sight/gas block

Cut off delta ring and spring

    Install new hand guard

Samson and Troy Alfa rails work great for this.
