The clear choice is 6.5 Creedmoor, do some research! :)

Here is a close up after I switched the EPC and cerakoted some lower parts. Keep in mind I am about 10 years into this build so I have invested way more than I would admit and every couple of years I update parts to keep it current. They are never finished!

Yeah my wife is pretty understanding. I have brainwashed here (or she lets me think I have) that the world is ending so I need to protect them. I actually got her into shooting and got here an LC9 and promptly realized the trigger was garbage and changed all that around. Then she shot my XD MOD 2 and stole that. It's always better when they are aware that you are building something. On the other hand if you build it smart they are not bad investments as long as you keep 1K rounds with them or you just have a fancy stick. Let me know if you are looking for anything specific or something from the west coast. I have built over 20 of these things for friends and family so I know where to find some pretty sweet deals on a few items.

LOL, yeah I have been known to do that. The toughest is the front takedown pin. The way I do that is put the spring in. Hold the detent with a small pair of needle nose pliers then use a razor blade to push it in flush with the lower. Then the takedown pin slide in right over the razor and done. Takes 5 seconds. Do the same with the rear detent when installing the end plate. Good little trick. Don't forget in the rear the detent goes in before the spring.

I know the struggle. I was putting in one of the detents and had it compressed with my thumb. For some stupid reason I let it go and the sumbitch flew across the house from the kitchen table to the front door, probably a good 40'. Heard it ricocheting on the wall and hardwood floors as it flew into oblivion. My heart sank as I didn't have a replacement at the time and wanted to finish the build that night but after 30 minutes of searching and an act of God I finally found it. :D

I did that with that tiny c clip that holds the ejection port cover rod in place. Dropped it on shag carpet in my garage and was literally the only piece on an AR that I don't have several extras laying around. After 30 min with a magnet and having given up there is set on the side of the magnet and I was GTG. At gun shows I spend about $30 and just buy handfuls of those parts.

I need to start picking up multiple spares of the little bastards when I head to the gun show. It's the worst feeling knowing that such a small piece could be anywhere given how fast it flies off.

This is the best method, I take it a step further and put the lower in a gallon size zip lock bag while I do it so the detent will likely be caught if it flies out.
I lost the detent on my first lower build and ended up using a dremel tool to make a small screw work as the detent, it was ugly but it worked.

If you have extra's you won have a problem. If you are down to your last one they fly off into oblivion every time! Just watch that video I sent you. Use a razor blade in place of the knife and it will be a breeze. Get some self adjusting pliers to press your pins in also and you will be a pro.

I lost a detent spring a few weeks ago sneezing while trying to install the end plate. That sucker dissappeared into the next demension and will never be seen again.

My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
U can tap the rear takedown pin spring detention hole with a lil 4-40 allen setscrew, that's the one that usually goes sailing for me, fixed my issue
