Had issues with ALL of my 10/30 Hexmags today, no issues with the 1 old school classic USGI mag I had.

The bolt wouldn't go forward causing a failure to feed malfunction. Early on there were no issues then all of sudden every single time on every single mag. So frustrating. I think the heat of the day mixed with a hot rifle warped the mags...
    20160812_144252.jpg

This happened each time when removing the magazine...

Despite the frustrations and 100+° weather I still managed to get a good zero with a new Primary Arms 3x Prism Scope with reman. rounds...

For mine I went with FDE handguards on my 300blk uppers. My 223 are all black. So thats a good clue. Then for ammo I picked up some rubber bands printed with 223, 300 supersonic, and 300 subsonic and put them on the magazines so you knew ammo type.

Another option you could do is pick up a dust cover that was engraved with 300 blackout (or 223)

I tend to only bring either the 300blk or the 223 though. Not sure why just ends up that way

Love my Aero M5 308 with a Black Hole barrel. I set it up for hunting this year, finger is getting kinda itchy!

That's probably what I'll end up doing, run FDE furniture and use USGI mags so I can feel the difference.
Also do an engraved ejection port cover and an engraved charging handle.

I love my 6.8, can't wait to suppress it and get a scope on it.

You should keep your form 4 with the tax stamp in a safe place and carry a copy. The BATF has lost track on many registered title 2 firearms (they don't talk about this). You must prove it's legal. I've heard stories about the batf saying a firearm was illegal and the owner had to have the form with the tax stamp to prove it was legal.

I don't mark my mags since I use the same ones for both and rarely bring both out at the same time. I did put a dust cover on the 300.

^ make a copy of the stamp, fold it up and store it in the grip. +1 for BCM which has a waterproof seal.

You can buy a long arm from an ffl in a state you don't live in if it's legal in your state. A lower is a "firearm" it's the part with the serial number.

The BATF website has answers to these questions.

Best deal going for either Magpul or GI mags right now? Don't want hexmag, tapco or other poly brands

No idea on magpul pmags but for metal GI mags i have been liking the D&H mags sold by PSA. Think they are normally 8.99 but go on sale for 6.99-7.99 quite often.

I trust pmags, and they're for work...so ideally they match issued gear...which is pmags...I can get by with GI mags but they prefer us keep it matching

I use rubber magazine bands to mark my 277 Wolverine magazines. Less of a worry as it physically cannot chamber in a 5.56 and be fired like the 300BO.

I see. In that case, I saw G2's @ primary arms for ~$10/ea.

Just picked up my LWRC 14". Fully ambidextrous. EoTech optic up top. Out the door, $2,600 all said and done. Not bad for California since you won't be seeing these around in a few months.

Looking to build my first upper from scratch. What's yalls suggestions for upper receiver and barrel? Looking for a 16in barrel, undecided between 5.56 or .223wylde. This will be my all around beater, hopefully do everything well rifle. The upper will be going on a lower I already have with a 3.5lb CMC trigger and magpul acs stock. All of my other rifles have been radical or psa complete uppers, and I'm wanting to build something a little nicer this time without completely breaking the bank. I've been looking at Rainier for barrels so far.

Nothing wrong with Rainier barrels, I'd be looking at BCM too.

I used an Aero upper on my blackout build, good receiver, decent price. Went a little uptown with a noveske barrel but I was on a roll.

Found BCM blem uppers with parts kit for $80 so going to pick one of those up. Looked into Rainier and BCM barrels, then did some reading on ar15.com and came across Faxon gunner barrels and LaRue stealth both with lots of good reviews. Too many choices!
