There are alot of nice AR's on here, but I love my piston colt 6940.

Their triggers are good to go.

    Colt made a piston rifle?
    I have a 6940 but it's DI.

I was going to get the regular Colt 6040 but found a great deal on the piston. I don't think they make it anymore, its not on their website. Its exactly like your 6940 colt mil-spec stock, colt rails and magpul sights IMG_3159.jpg IMG_3157.jpg

    Interesting.

I have a PWS 10.5" piston. Didn't know Colt made them.

I was just on the Colt website and it's not listed on the consumer side. Look on the Law Enforcement/military site and you will find one. It's really pricey, Retail is in the $1800 and up neighborhood (if you can find one).

i didnt think so either but needed to blow some money before taxes rolled around and got a great deal on it so i sayed f@&% it and bought it, and DAMN this thing is nice. very very crisp and there is no consern for me in accidentally firing due to the light pull, i read some where that i can ''lap" the trigger into my gun even more by pulling up to the first stage 200-300 times without breaking the second stage of the trigger. only pulled through once ant that was it, very impressed. it hits that wall and its there nice and solid. then any more pressure and snap!! like a candy cane as they say. there is no creep nothing. we were showing a buddy of mine the trigger as he had a factory trigger and we swapped lowers and his grouping at 100yds with a scope went from 1.5-2 inches down to 1 inch or smaller.

things i like about the trigger,
there is no creep in the trigger unlike factory, i hated the factory because there was no way for me to squize a roun off and know when it was going to fire, and the trigger is heavy.

this one is a two stage, first there is a distance traveled to a wall, then any more and your braking a candy cane. i know when its going to go bang every time.

i do not notice the 2 stage when firing irons and fast, i honestly think its an improvement over the factory because i can again feel that wall and it feels right. no squeeze and wait for it to go bang like the factory.

i paid 170$ for mine and think it was worth every penny and if you come out here you are more then welcome to shoot it to see for your self!

I have an SSA-E on the way. Buy once cry once. Will give the OEM JP trigger another chance since they sent me yellow springs to try.

The AR Gold trigger is also pretty sweet. Just don't look at the price :)

It's basically 30-30 out of an AR platform. Unless you are going to get an SBR and a suppressor, not a good trade-off, IMO.

Piston (in general) is a solution in search of a problem. It resolves (some) issues with the direct impingement design, and introduces others (from the piston design). But costs more.

Get a decent quality barrel, and a mill-spec upper. The keep it wet with TW-25b and shoot the hell out of it :)

I gave up on the piston idea shorty after posting that. The interchangeability of the DI milepec design suits my needs better

    My new DPMS Oracle AR-15.

I'm new to the AR world.
I'm looking for advice on sights vs optics. The main purpose of this gun sub-100yrd shoots. Target practice, shooting hogs and defense.

    My budget is $100.

Youre telling me!! I got a ar10 80% in FDE that need to be built and a 300bo that needs to grow a lower. Good thing that also has a 80 waiting for it. Though it might be donated to a 458 build...:anonymous:

I'm in the same boat, I want a rifle that is a jack of all trades and master of none. Every time I think I know what I want, I find something new.
