For "run n gun" go with a reflex sight.

i didnt like my friends reflex but it could have just been his optic itself. Recommendation of a good reflex?

I prefer my C-more ATAC, but they don't make it anymore.

EOTech is a favorite of many. It will come down to personal preference and whether or not you want magnification.

What's wrong with the Vortex you already said you wanted? What do you think the difference is between a reflex sight and a red dot?

When you consider the tight tolerances and engineering, not to mention the finish work, that goes into quality optics, is it really surprising? I don't know of anyone bolting together high end optics with $500 in parts and a bench vise in their garage.

:wave:Scott! Take a look at Primary Arms housebrand scopes. Like the one that @LTDSC linked above. They're actually pretty decent scopes for the money. Plenty of youtube videos comparing them to high dollar scopes (pros/cons either way). I think for the average shooter that will go plinking at the range they're just fine. Unless you're going to be shooting competitively, hunting Yeti at extreme distances, or actively defending 'Merica against Taliban, I don't see a need to put a $2k scope on an $800 rifle. Then again if you are doing any of those things, I'd imagine you'd have better resources than TacomaWorld to ask for scope advice.

Among my "cheapo" optics, I have a vortex strikefire II red dot:
    http://www.primaryarms.com/vortex-strikefire-ii-bright-red-dot-sight-sf-br-503

    Primary arms 4-14:
    http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-...inated-mil-dot-scope-eta-mid-july-2016-pa416x

and a Sig Sauer "whatchamacallit" that was on sale when I picked up one of my rifles and I can no longer find for sale anywhere (around $200-250)

They each have a home on a specific rifle and none have let me down so far. I'm not kicking my rifles around on the desert or torture testing anything I own. I don't baby them either, but they pretty much go from the range bag to the bench or prone position and back in the bag. They work just fine for me.

Might want to look into the Redfield Revolution scopes too @scottalot. They are made in the US as a second, budget friendly, line to Leupold. I have Revolution scopes on two of my rifles and I've been please with them.

I feel my vortex sparc is a great bang for the buck. Shot 200 rounds my first time out with it and was on all day.

Primary Arms does make some great value optics and I have one mounted on my Mosin, but I only use Trijicon or Aimpoint on anything that may see serious use.

I have spent way too much time today researching ammo. Does anyone have a recommendations on bulk ordering.

    Brass vs Steel?
    Good Brands?
Bad Brands to stay away from?
