Two things. First, don't put plastic sights on a gas block rail. It will melt if you ever get the gun really hot. Second, a rear MBUIS is fine, but for the front you need a sight that specifically calls out "gas block height". The oracle uses a railed gas block for some reason, which causes people to want to slap on a front sight there. If you do, it needs to be metal, and it needs to be taller than most flip-up sights. Sorry for your troubles, hope this helps.

Thank you. After a quick google search I see this is an issue for many people. I can't believe the guys at my gun shop didn't know this. They sold me the sights and even installed them for me.

Could be that most people that work at gunshops know absolutely dick about firearms, aside from wholesale & retail prices, of course.

They are likely victims of spending too much time at the newsstand and not enough on a 3 dimensional range. As someone that has been shooting since 1991, a gunsmith since 1993 and a CCW permit holder since 1994, most of what I hear in gun stores makes me want to cringe. I really feel bad for newer shooters that rely on gun store gurus for their education, especially when there are so many reputable sources of information out there. The tough part is weeding through all of the nonsensical bullshit and figuring out who knows their shit and who is full of shit. I guess with the internet and YouTube that gets more and more difficult instead of easier.

My recommendation is to listen to what people have to say, but run it through a BS filter, since even a broken clock is right twice a day. Find an instructor or instruction paradigm that is battle tested and proven (even if just via force on force training), then run that through a BS filter. I've taken several classes through Suarez International and have training DVDs from Suarez, Travis Haley/Magpul Dynamics, Marc Denny, SouthNarc, Sonny Puzikas, etc. Even though I dislike a lot about Gabe Suarez as a businessman and his politics, he has the best training paradigm that I have found. It has been vetted by people that have been there, done that, and was developed in conjunction with Marc Denny, Michael Janich, Roger Phillips, and Sonny Puzikas. I use the basics from Suarez as a foundation, then fine tune with techniques from Phillips, Puzikas and Haley.

How about one with a BCG and charging handle for the same price?

Handguard is a quad rail instead of keymod, but you can upgrade for a few bucks more.

Does anyone have any experience with the Midwest Industries Free Floating M-LOK handguards? Or any others you guys recommend? I'm trying to piece together my first AR build.

Used MI on two builds. The latest uses their ultralight M-Lok handguard. I like the design and the finish, but I don't recommend the ultralight system because it doesn't use a continuous rail. If you want to move an iron sight back and put a light on it at 12:00, you can't.

Other than that, the latest gen of MI rail is a lot better than the first gen. Dehorned all around with a nice matte finish instead of the glossy anondized older versions.

The one I was looking at was the G3 which has a continuous rail on top. I like that they're very slim. Any others you'd recommend?

For the price they're hard to beat. I also like Troy rails, but they're heavier than the MI series. Daniel Defense, Geissele, etc. are all great for more $$.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Got geissele's on both of my ar's and their SSA-e triggers and love all of it! I chose the rails because of quallity and how they mount. Can torque barrel nut to spec and then the rail itself has no problem spinning around to line up to where it needs to be.
