I ask because of that barrel being so short and so much unburned powder coming out of the barrel, does your suppressor stifle it down enough to still not half to wear ear plugs. Because in ours, it throws almost a 10 foot flame out of the barrel.

I thought .300 BLK only required 9" of barrel to fully burn powder?

I wasn't plugged up. But 300 blk is optimized for a 9in barrel and it's a 8.5in barrel. I've only put a mag of 220 gr. Subsonics. I shot it at dusk and there wasn't much of a flash that I noticed.

I wasn't aware of that in 300 blackout, ours was in 223.

I didn't realize there was such a big difference in between 223 and 300 blackout, subsonic's yes! But is there that big of a difference in standard 300 black out?

I've honestly never shot anything but subsonic 300s. Never shot supersonic

What bullets are you shooting? Have you found anything cheap? Bullet wise.

Yes, the powder in all (to my knowledge) 300 bulk loads are fast burning vs the slow burning powder used in 223 loads.

To jump in, the last few hundred I loaded up were 220 gr Sierra Pro Hunters. Somewhat cheaper than SMKs and they feed fine in ARs. I wouldn't consider them cheap.

Mind sharing what powder/load data you are using? And can you get your rifle to cycle with subsonic without a can on it? Only subs i have ran were nosler customs and they didnt want to cycle without a can

Heresa close-up of my Smith&Wesson M&P15 AR. Love this gun. I built it with Daniel Defense furniture and a Palmetto State Arms Trigger. It does me well. :p

I don't believe I've ever tried to get my BLK to run subsonic without a can. Not sure why I'd ever shoot it that way. Ran fine with a can. 10.5 gr of 1680 if I remember right. Don't quote me on it.

Not sure honestly, it was stuff we had at work. Cheapest I've been able to find it is right around 41 cents/round online. That was before shipping.

208 amax, 208 HorNady bthp match, 220smk, and a 203gr coated lead bullet all cycle my 8.5" and the 16" ar's. I've used accurate 5574 and 1680. Loaded supersonic and worked down to subsonic for each bullet type.

All cycled just fine as I test without the suppressor to ensure stability then add the can.
