Oh man I didnt know you were building three! What do you have in mind on uppers?

Just sent the form1 for the tax stamp off for New Hottness(SBR) and now I am going to wait 9 months :p Dont plan on building any others anytime soon and my other AR has been set since I bought it. Maybe get a new trigger for both but I am ok for now. I had to put my Mossberg 500 and Remington 700 on consignment so I can try to make my money back on the SBR. Thinking of buying a suppressor in the next 2-3 months but not sure yet what to get.

I don't use my SBR only in my truck, it's a multi-role firearm, at night it's at my bedside next to my XDs and it's often what I take through the woods when I'm out wandering around or checking to see if trespassers have been around recently.
It's much easier to shoot accurately and comfortably with this

To me it was well worth the $200 (BS) tax, but i also have the ability to slap my 10.5" upper on there and be legal with that as well as the 12.5" 6.8 SPC upper I plan on building for hunting.
Now you're probably gonna ask why a 12.6" 6.8 for hunting, because with a Griffin Recce 7 suppressor the total package is only 1.75" longer than my 16" 6.8 SPC, the slight additional length is worth the drop in DB's considering I don't hunt with ear pro.

What you should do is take one of those lowers and send in the form 1! This way you know what caliber you'll have on it and the barrel  You could make it a pistol while you wait or just leave it as an incomplete lower and wait for a good sale. Better to get in line now for a stamp because I hear they are still on June of 2016 because the longer you wait, the longer you wait. I love the upper I have on my pistol and wouldnt mind getting a new barrel on my other AR and get rid of the Anderson one.

Thats a genius idea with the 6.8. Where are you getting the upper from?

Thanks, I was researching the caliber before I built the 16" upper (back before my SBR) and learned that 6.8 keeps good ballistics and reliability down to 12.5" ( or a little under) and it got me thinking about hunting suppressed (Legal in my state) and since I hunt out of a tree stand or ground blind with heavy cover the length makes a difference.
I'll build it myself, not sure exactly what I'm putting in it but it'll be an ARP barrel (Same as my 16") with a keymod handrail and probably a vortex 2-8 scope.

You could do it either individually or with a trust. I went the trust route and went with myguntrust.com . Jim is a really good guy and set me up so that I can do everything with a notary and myself. He had a link on his site on how to fill out the form 1 and Form 4 paper work. I would look into that. Best $300 decision I've made and you can call him and he'll answer any questions you have.

Where are you getting your 6.8 barrel from? I'm also planning a build, but with a 10.5 or 11".

Yep. Interchangeable cans are a huge plus. However, I do see some instances where a permanent suppressor makes sense when you can save $200, such as an integrally-suppressed 10/22 barrel. Might as well save a stamp.

    Shortest ARP offers is 12.5"

I'll post up in here when I build it but it'll likely be 6+ months before I start building it, I'm about to move out of state when I graduate college next month and while I have secured 2 jobs neither can guarantee x hours per week so I put myself on a pretty strict budget just in case.

Local gun forum has a NFA support group and some members have reported stamps clearing from June, my form 4 was submitted 07/05 so hopefully I have less than 2 months wait left.

I think I've heard people having issues with Silencer Shop only because you're on your own doing the trustee and assignment paper work. If you do that wrong someone can go to jail but I have no experience with them and it's all hear say. I know if I have questions I can call an attorney and ask

I was actually looking into Silcencer Shop. They're process seems straight forward. Cant decide on rather I should do it now or wait to see what will happen with this Suppressor bill "hearing protection act. But who knows when that will be or if it will pass.

Whats the current wait times on suppressors?

Don't wait for the bill to pass (if it does), the suppressor companies can use all the business they can because their niche market is suddenly dry due to customers waiting to see if the bill will pass, that's why there are so many rebates being offered from vendors and manufacturers right now.
Current wait time isapproximatly 10-11 months, after the atf processes the apps from after July 13th of last year the wait time should drop due to the decreased number of applications.
