This thread has been GREAT! I've been reading and learning from it for the past year. I called around town today and grabbed this for $525 locally at a mom & pop shop in a converted barn about 15 minutes outside of town. I grabbed an extra mag, 120 rounds, and I'm ordering a red dot, riser, and Magpul SL hand guard. Here she is in all her unmodded glory:

So im getting ready to purchase my suppressor. Decided to go with MACK BROTHERS MB762L.

I have been researching Silencershops's "Single Shot Trust". They have a promotion going on until Monday where the trust is free. It seems actually like a very easy process considering they are digitizing the majority of the process. Going to the Kiosk and uploading your finger prints and signing digitally. I know its a new process they came out with but I definitely see this being the future of ATF item buying.

I can get my suppressor $300 off, plus a free trust thats been made easier....sign me up.

What do you guys think of this "Single Shot Trust"? I will probably wait until Monday and call them first before buying.

Their trusts are decent if you just want a trust that will get you a NFA item. Not so good if you really want to specify specific things. But that's how they work, its not a custom trust but rather a blanket form you insert names/dates into and off you go. Tons of people have used them just fine.

$55 Dagger Defense ddhb red/green dot sight

    or

    $60 + $10 mid riser Bushnell trs-25 red dot?

Both have myriad reviews an Amazon. I like the aesthetic design and features of the DD but the Bushnell is said to be better built. I would anticipate looking down the Bushnell to be akin to looking down a plastic straw. Anyone have advice based on experience?

I'd go with the bushnell personally, never heard of the other brand but I've read a lot of good about the TRS-25

Don't go with Dagger Defense. I bought one and ended up with 3 because none of them would hold zero for too long.

Walt for an Easter sale and get a vortex sparc 2. Definitely worth the money

You will definitely get what you pay for. Cheaper red dot are cheap for a reason. If you want a good one wait for next week for sales on either the Vortex spitfire II or the Sparc II. You will not be disappointed in quality and you get Vortexs lifetime warranty. I have two vortex optics and love them both. I even found deal with the spitfire II Red/green that came with a free hat.

There are more variables to consider unless you are single, unmarried, and/or live with your parents (or they support your cost of living to some degree).

I'm a married father of two who has returned to college. Dropping another $200 on a sight on top of a rifle purchase is not an option.

Hence the reason I asked "this or this?" Rather than "tell me what you think I should buy that's on the market."

Hi Im Married with two fur chilren does that count :anonymous: oh and I'm buying a house at the end of the month

If you're looking for either or, go with the Bushnell. I have a 6x18 trophy scope and it's never caused a problem. Or save $50 every two weeks for the next month and a half and buy the spitfire II for $159.99 but your call

Interesting. I'd want to see what it looks like on a rifle with a 16" barrel. All the pictures in that article appear to be SBRs

I'm kinda digging it but not sure if that's something I'd wanna use on my SBR. I can see the ergonomics of it buidI'd have to see it in person I think

It's made for SBRs from what I read in that article. It would look really silly on a 16 inch rifle especially with that forearm grip being so far forward

Gluttons for punishment, aren't we? Did I mention I should be saving $ for this? I'll save the live rounds for the shooting range and the blanks in the bedroom :thumbsup::infantry:

Any recommendations on a barrel snake and cleaner? Shop owner said to use Frog-lube. I keep Hoppe's #9 and Rem-Oil in my cleaning kit. How should I lube this rifle up after cleaning?
