Interesting. I'd want to see what it looks like on a rifle with a 16" barrel. All the pictures in that article appear to be SBRs

I'm kinda digging it but not sure if that's something I'd wanna use on my SBR. I can see the ergonomics of it buidI'd have to see it in person I think

It's made for SBRs from what I read in that article. It would look really silly on a 16 inch rifle especially with that forearm grip being so far forward

Gluttons for punishment, aren't we? Did I mention I should be saving $ for this? I'll save the live rounds for the shooting range and the blanks in the bedroom :thumbsup::infantry:

Any recommendations on a barrel snake and cleaner? Shop owner said to use Frog-lube. I keep Hoppe's #9 and Rem-Oil in my cleaning kit. How should I lube this rifle up after cleaning?

I use Hoppes boresnake's for the majority of my barrel cleaning. I have nicer Tipton cleaning rods for patches and brushes.

As for lube....use whatever you like. Everyone has their opinion of what is the best when in reality they all work just fine. I have used Hoppes 9 for a long time and it works great. Right now I tend to use TW-25 grease when i need grease and FireClean (that i got for free mind you, not sure I'd pay for it) for oil. But a bottle of Hoppes 9 rides in my range bag.

So, you know about the Fireclean story too! (AKA "cooking oil")

So.....after finding some very, very bad reviews on Spec Op manufacturing, I may have made a very poor choice in buying this rifle. Most of the reviews are from 2014 and earlier. Hope the stepped up there game since then.
Meanwhile......I'll most likely be heading back to my person gun shop down the road from me to pick up a a Tavor X-95 that they have.
I was looking for one when I purchased my SAR 18 in tan and they have a fg green x95 there.

To be fair, I more didn't like their response to the whole thing over it being "cooking oil" than what it actually is. Stuff does seem to prevent carbon build up and do exactly what the company said it would do. But the way the handled some negative press turned me off of them. Especially since I bet if they did analysis on more oils, people would find out their favorites are in the same boat...being mainly basic oils with a dash of stuff added in.

But oiling/lubing is always a funny topic. Way to many people overthink it. Pick a lube that you like and stick with it.

Oh I agree, but cooking definitely doesn't cost $8 for 3 ounces. Maybe I'm a little salty because I got burned on that sale also

The story can be found pretty easy on google. but basically went something like

-Company aggressively advertised FireClean as being a revolutionary lube.
-A couple bigger names in the gun world sang its praises (probably paid to)
-Rumors of it being just Canola Oil spread online
-A spectral analysis was preformed and the results more or less proved it was mostly canola oil
-Company denied the claims and claimed there was more to it than that blah blah blah.
-People got annoyed with the company and product and paying high prices and switched to other lubricants.
