I'd like to get a couple in the future but not at this moment. I would honestly get one for my G19 before I got one for a rifle.

The rifle will be used mostly for target shooting out to 500 yards (steel plates, not goin for tiny groups on paper) and possibly some game, coyotes and javelina, etc.

    458 socom :D

    Grendel-Long distance, cheap wolf ammo
6.8 SPC- Really cool round, I haven't researched grendel enough to see the advantages of 6.8 over grendel
.277 Wolverine- Inexpensive (less than $1 a round factory ammo), close to the long distance performance of 6.8, ability to run suppressed/subsonic effectively, uses all 556 parts sans barrel.

From the reading I have done this is essentially how it breaks down between the 3 calibers I listed above.

6.5 Grendel- Great long range target round, varmint round at it's core, sub $0.25/Rd on the cheapest end.

6.8 SPC- Ultimate (common) hunting round for the AR-15, 110 Gr bullets go almost 3K FPS with hot hand loads, good performance out of SBR's (200-300 FPS drop from 16" to 12.5" barrel, round doesn't gain much going longer than 16")

.277 Wolverine- (hang with me on this one, still researching/learning about it) Shoots the same pills as the 6.8 with based on the 556 casing so the loads are 200-300 FPS slower than the equivalent 6.8 load, good performance from short barrels, ability to run heavier bullets subsonic (such as 140 Gr), $0.92 a round for varmint rounds

IMO the 277 is the most versatile round, and the price of round will be decreasing fairly soon, 2 manufacturers now make factory ammo with .277 headstamp and the cartridge is only a few years old.

If you want to read more about the wolverine... (scroll about 2/3rds of the way down) http://wildcatshooters.com

That's sweet! I like the idea of combining old and new. Got some research to do.

I like that even better than the other one. This may be what I decide on.

Depends on the gun for me. I have the magpul AFG on my 300blk SBR and like it. But I have a thinner tube rail on it. On my 458socom upper I don't run one at all as it has a larger rail (1.5"+). On my non SBR length uppers I don't run one at all.

DI because piston weighs too much. Selling my upper because of that, since I've found no benefit and only more weight.

Range tested and brought home my first big boy rifle today. Was shooting 3/4" groups at 50y while crouching/leaning with my elbows on the range rest. Pretty happy with that, now to get a bipod and go to the 100yrd see if I can shoot sub MOA.

Also, it's got a chuckle switch, night quite a giggle but still a 3 position. Only shot it in semi but I love the feel and break already. (Fostech binary trigger)

Sorry still new at this! :cookiemonster:

Frankly I have no idea, a relative of a friend built it for me and asked if I wanted a really expensive trigger for cheap I told him I hate the mushy millspec of my other buddy's AR so hell yeah! I didn't even know it was going to be a three position till I picked it up from him and he was like click-click-click in bang out bang okay don't kill yourself.

Nah I actually appreciate you pointing it out, it's good to have correct info. Especially if I ever need replacement parts.

The only part I knew that was going into the build was the Hera Arms M-Lok hand gaurd.

1 in 8 stainless barrel, stainless gas block and tube, DI, and the chuckle button, with my Hera hand gaurd. That's about all I know right now. :anonymous:

(Oh and my elcheapo UTG scope, plus I stopped on my way home and bought a window Pmag and 45 kant sights.)

Gave my friend a price point and he said he'd build me the best rifle he could for the money.

He did omit the forward assist as it was an additional cost and "not necessary", can that be added later?

Yes, remove a roll pin, insert assembly, reinstall roll pin.

    Right on! :fistbump:

Drooling over all the dress up parts for AR's. So many things.

Until recently I never really shot rifles, owned a few handguns, shotguns, and have shot several hunting style rifles and a few "tactical" rifles from friends and what not, mostly innawoods can on a log at 50 feet type stuff.
(Thank God for backwoods America! :oldglory: )

After I bought my first lil 10/22 and took it to the 100yrd with a 0'ing target I was hooked on longer range.

Here's said Tacktiqool Soap-mall-mod-cop 10/22 the goal was to attach as much crap as I could to it, it needs moar. It is as ridiculously fun to shoot as it is ridiculous.

I dig it! Looks like fun and 22 is so cheap to shoot. I have yet to get a 22. On the list though.
