Just currious, has a crime ever been committed in the state of California where a .50 BMG was used? Has one ever been committed anywhere in the U.S.? Anything that can discharge a round of that magnitude is going to be heafty and large, I just can't see a crook trying to lug one around.

No... a 50 has never been used in a crime anywhere in the US.
You're points are all valid. They are, exactly the points we made in oppsition to the bill.

But the other side was screaming that you can shoot down an airplane with a 50 (not kidding).

You just can't even make up the stupid hippy liberal bullshit these people believe in this State.

There have been quite a few instances of a 50cal being used. Quite a few not really being many at all....but still is more than none. Here is just one of them.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...r-rifle/e780e7cd-a0a2-4c2a-8574-cb12b706ffca/

The guys at Waco also used them. Theres also been some robberies involving them.

All though not violent crimes theres also been a few people caught doing straw purchases with them. Either selling them to gangs in the US or a couple were trying to get them to the cartels.

But the main thing is sort of like a AR ban. Long guns are used in what...4% (dont remember off the top of my head) of gun crimes? And out of those you are talking like probably <.1% involving a 50 cal (probably even less but no numbers to back it up so guessing).

According to that article, the guy didn’t use the .50 just had it. And I’m pretty sure it wasn’t only even mentioned for the shock value of them describing how it “could cut through a manhole like butter” and take down helicopters and other shit, etc.

Albert Petrosky was case that they try to use to show how terrible the 50 BMG. But every news report about his murders list the weapons he had as a shotgun, a pistol, and an "assault rifle.".... until 4 years AFTER the murders, when gun grabbers decided it is fashionable to go after the 50BMG.

The entire Waco situation was a complete abortion. When the US gov't is sending tanks and lighting my house on fire, I'm going to shoot back... the "crimes" being "committed" are debatable... (best debated in an entirely different forum.

Possession, trafficking, smuggling etc is not the context of what the discussion was about (at least not what was in the context of what I was talking about).

No one has used a 50 BMG in a robbery... ever... you don't use a 4 and a half foot rifle in a mugging... maybe a 50 AE... but we were talking about 50 BMG... Barrett doesn't make 50 AE (we were talking about Barrett).

They say a few others have shot at people etc. Maybe that's true. I probably overstated "never used in a crime" but the instances of the use of a 50 BMG is infinitesimal (if at all)

And of course, the simple fact of the matter is that if you make the guns or ammo or whatever illegal it will prevent their very existence.

No self respecting criminal would ever violate a gun law in the commission of their crime.

Of course! That's why I feel safe working at a gun free zone. I know for a fact, no one with a gun would ever do anything here. I just wish they would put up more signs. What if the criminal doesn't know?

I can't even leave my firearm, locked inside my truck in the parking lot while I work here. They don't even want you to carry a pocket knife. We get alerts when sexual assaults and armed robberies that happen on campus. Yeah, it's a weekly. Yup, I feel super safe. My girlfriend will call me when she walks to her car at night because she's scared. Wait, they have those blue light warning systems to hit if you're in trouble. I should have known, she'll be safe then...

My other favorite thing, is to go into my break room to get coffee and see a "common sense" gun control petition on the break room table because would want to protect themselves when you can call the police or hit warning light to alert them.

You should buy her one of those magical whistles that a certain political party touts so highly that make the world's evil disappear. Only then will she truly be safe.

So I decided I wanted to try one of those binary triggers for shits and giggles.
Not a big fan of 5-6 week waits though.
Missed out on one at $420 by a couple hours, and went to ebay.
Well I watched the scalpers on eBay go to town, and finally started bidding on some. Well as it typically goes with eBay once you miss out on a few you start justifying spending more.
Well I have a $500 bid winning one that ends tomorrow, and found a used one for $360.
So I didn’t want to miss out on the used one while waiting to be outbid so I bought it.
Well damn I’m still the top bidder on the other and it’s down to 20 hours left.
Really hope I get outbid or otherwise I’m gonna end up with 2 of them and $860 tied up in triggers to go with the other $1000+ I already have tied up in triggers for ARs I barely even shoot.
    Lol oh well.

Lol it dropped to $410 after I canceled my bid and is now at $510. Guess I could have saved the trouble but better safe than sorry. Thanks again though.

This is off topic but I recently listed a nice AR for sale on armslist for a dirt cheap price, much cheaper than “custom” AR’s I saw on there priced way higher (with NC Star optics, Chinese gun show accessories, etc). So cheap I was actually losing over half of the price I originally paid for it. Not a single hit on it. From the looks of it, the AR market has sort of tanked due to there being no scare, etc.
