How was y'all's Black (gun) Friday? We plinked targets across a peanut field. Younger cousins had a blast getting to shoot ARs for the first time:

Mine just showed up today and installed it. No live fire yet but it passes my function checks.
Trigger feels like crap coming from having an ssa-e on every AR, but hopefully under Fire it won’t be noticed.

    Questions please.

    I bought a M & P 10 sport.

I want to put a magpul moe fixed stock on it. I know I need a A2 style rifle length buffer tube and spring, my question is can I run the buffer it has now, or do I need a different buffer ?

Depends on the stock, a rifle stock uses a longer buffer, however you might be able to use your existing buffer. Does it run with the shorter buffer? That would be the test, might even work with your existing spring too, put those in the new stock and see how much tension there is. If it cycles by hand you’re probably gtg. Try some 5.56 and .223 and make sure it cycles both reliably.

On another note, why would you want to put a fixed stock on there anyways? Unless required by law (it appears you’re in Vegas, NV so you should be gtg with anything you want) no reason to go fixed. Plenty of options to achieve your desired LOP and cheek weld without the limitations of a fixed stock IMO.

It's a 308. Needs a rifle length buffer tube and spring to work with the stock, just not sure if the buffer needs to change.

It is a range toy for bench shooting. Don't care for a collapsible stock. Have a rifle length stock on one of my AR's and find it to be comfortable and perfect length of pull. I live in Nevada, don't have to worry about the compliant nonsense. When I moved from Long Beach, all my bullet buttons fell off at the state line. When I bought the AR10, walked in, said that one, NICS background check on the phone while I was right there, filled out my paperwork, out the door in 10 minutes tops. Free America.

Ahh missed the .308 part, makes since now with the M&P10 name.

I’d still try with the shorter buffer, I know the UBR on my .308 uses a carbine buffer/spring.
Better to try the shorter buffer first, before putting in a longer rifle one and damaging the tube if it needs a short one.
.308 and buffers are picky though, I’d still start with atleast an H1 carbine buffer, good idea to use a rifle length spring first so there is enough pressure on the buffer.

I know it needs a rifle length tube and spring. The buffer is what I am not sure of, and and am not really getting anywhere with that.

For only $45 I'd try it out. I have an ALG trigger on my Yugo AK (yes I know this is an AR thread). While stock AK triggers are usually garbage to begin with, I was very impressed with the ALG trigger. If I didn't already have an SSA-E on my DD AR, I'd go with ALG without hesitation.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I was told ALG is a "sister company" of Geissele?

Yes, run by his wife. Her goal is affordable quality parts, not high-end competition parts. And hey, I'm Pro-AK over here. I'm looking at the PSAK-47 right now but I don't care for the Ferrari Testarossa style front grip.

Makes sense. I have no experience with ALG's AR products but I'd definitely go with them.

Not familiar with the PSAK-47. I'd look it up but our bandwidth here is crap. Couldn't you swap the front grip with a different type? Wooden or otherwise?

In other news, I picked up a new Trijicon TA31RCO-C4MP (USMC version) on Gunbroker the other day for $1100. Hadn't been able to find that particular model anywhere else for less than $1,466. Pretty excited to finally get one.

Run the one you already have, worst case it doesn’t have enough weight to reliably cycle the weapon. The only difference between a rifle buffer and carbine is the length and weight. The weight can be made up with a heavier carbine buffer, the length is irrelevant, to the point a rifle buffer should be obselete.

Had a psak47. It was refunded by psa. After 300 rounds the receiver was working all of the rivets loose. Would not buy again.

Storm series. Used to be made by hardigg but now pelican. I like the storm 3100 but a lot of people like the bigger ones.
