Roger that. On the M1A, I've been carefully figuring different solutions, most of which mean removing the cubbies behind the rear seats and installing a locking rack of some kind.

If I lived in Nevada, sure. In Illinois, I'm pretty sure the popo would nuke me from orbit.

Your Optic has bullet drop compensator (BDC) which has marks for different yardages. You should read your owners manual on the scope and it will tell you what range to zero your cross hairs so that your BDC hash marks work at the correct yardages.

The numbers don't lie. But those numbers are at 800 yds and you need to be shooting that far to see much benefit from the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Those two loads you showed - the 308 has 17% more energy at the muzzle by my calculations. I don't have the velocities at any of the intermediate distances but the 6.5 probably overtakes the 308 in energy around 500 yds out. I can tell you I do most of my shooting inside 500 yds.

Lots of guys I know are into the 6.5, and I'm all about it if it gets you fired up about shooting, firearms and reloading. But I'm a 308 holdout! I'm up to 3 bolt guns in 308 and it's the only rifle caliber I own (other than 223).

The 6.5 mm rounds are much easier to shoot at distance compared to 308. I'm using the 260 round, very similar to 6.5.

At 25x zoom, orange is 485, whites are at 1K.

I dont have any proof i can post but i hit an 18" steel gong at 1700 yards a couple weeks back. Furthest ive ever shot by a lot!

My 308 would hit the gong at 900 yards but at 1200 it was dropping rounds over a few feet, no chance at 1700 with it.

actually it starts by 200 yards @ over 2000 foot pounds of energy. a very commanding difference when you hear them both on steel @ even 200 yards. my f/s 2764 @ the muzzle.
