    Starting my build:
JD Machine stripped lower - $109
Palmetto state LPK w/ Magpul MOE grip and trigger guard - $53
Palmetto engraved ejection port cover - $20 (gotta have some bling)

    Planned parts:
    Magpul CTR stock

I'm still debating between a full CMMG upper or upper assemblies (minus bcg, ch, and hg) from BCM or LMT. Any thoughts?

I like CMMG BUT if BCM or LMT is an option then that's the answer.

    Forgot to add:
    CMMG: $610 shipped
LMT: $430 + BCG, CH, HG (about $182) = $612 + shipping or $620 for complete upper w/ plain handguards
    BCM: $489 + BCG, CH, HG (about $182) = $671 + shipping

BCG = LMT full auto, CH = BCM gunfighter mod 4, HG = Magpul

Here is me playing with mine at a Virginia Tech AMU shoot a few months ago. I like the operator2 because of the 50/50 handguard up front and the fact that it comes loaded for less than BCM and the others. It is a great gun for those that want something kinda sporty but don't shoot as often as they would like.

Any particular reason you're going with this JD Machine lower receiver?

Palmetto State Armory has stripped lowers for $89 i think

Now you guys are speaking my lanuage. :) Well this is just my opinion but I think you should reconsider the brands and go with Yankee Hill Machine they are known for their quality and quadrails. just take a look at them you wont be sorry. you get what you pay for when it comes to firearms.

Local company - made in San Diego about 5 mi from where I bought the lower
Mil contractor for lowers and uppers iirc (although current owner just plead out to bribery or something to get mil contracts)
Been in business for a while - prev called Kaiser Defense
    $109 + deros and tax.

Local FFL wants $50 to receive weapons (other shops won't even consider accepting big-bad-black-rifle stripper lowers) and still has to charge state tax. So going with the JD lower was cheaper then going with the PSA lower. The other lower I was considering was a spikes but the nearest place is a bit of a drive and the lower was on sale @ $99 - the drive made it more expensive than the JD.

This is basic black rifle, paper puncher, possibly home defense if I need it. Unless the Zombie apocolypse actually happens I dont really have a need for VFG's, lasers, expensive optics, etc (as a nurse I still easily qualified with an ancient M16-A2 so iron sights are gtg for me). I originally wanted a carry handle but the cheapest was spikes for $80+ so I went with the Magpul gen2 buis (plus it matches my 15-22 rear sight). I might want to add a light later if I really start to use it for home defense, otherwise the 1911 is my home go-to-gun (well populated area - hate to think of who would get hit from a high-power rifle shot).

The 6.8 is going to be for hog hunting so again, no real reason for quad rails except for maybe free float and bipod attachment. But yeah, I agree YHM makes some quality stuff!

For me tacticool = expensive uneeded stuff (for the most part). Although I do have a primary arms M4 rds on my 15-22.

That 6.8 seems a little light for a big sow when she's mad though it would be good for the coyotes we've seeing around here.

You need to check out the 6.8forums.

Back in HI we used to go out w/ dog and knife. Lots of guys had Mini-14s and 30 carbines. Not sure how the 6.8 compares to the carbine though.
