The upper I bought from them works perfectly fine. I've had no issues with fit and finish or quality.

Any thought on 7.5" barrels for 300 blk?
Primary use will be truck gun and adding suppressor later in the year.
Is 7.5" too short for decent ballistics, is 8.5/9" ideal?

Been trying to determine best length for a pistol build that will stow easily. I know at 7.5 I can get it in my hiking day pack.

Personally I’d use 8.5-10.5 for ballistics and suppressor life.

I agree. Perhaps, if I wanted to end up with an SBR I'd start with a pistol and the add a shoulder stock after getting the Form 4 approval from ATF.

Picked this up yesterday at a local shop. Was going to buy a Spike's but they were out of stock. They had some ATIs and this one - a CMMG. Looked to be decent quality so I grabbed it instead of ordering something else. We'll see how it works when the PSA rifle kit arrives.

CMMG is good quality, and they're focused on innovating in a pretty mature market. I really like their new Guard pistol caliber ARs. They're right down the road from me, actually, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

spent all day yesterday researching optics. Will be on a 16" DDM4V11... occasional range use and maybe will eventually get into competing 2 gun... max 200 yards .

got it down to these three.

Im not familiar with the Steiner, but if your max anticipated range is only 200 yards the strike eagle will be more than sufficient. I feel that the viper would be overkill, but would definitely have better glass quality than the strike eagle.

I agree with this ^^ for the most part, if you have the budget I would go for the viper, I love the glass quality on my viper HST 4-16.

I think what a lot of guys do not realize by getting a stamp when building an SBR and even getting a suppressor is you are also signing a form that allows the ATF to come inspect your weapons unannounced and without requiring a warrant. In other words you get another cool gadget but don't be surprised if the ATF shows up and invites themselves in to ensure you are staying within the guidelines of said forms and stamps, when they do you had better have everything on the up and up. When you obtain these things you are actually giving up your constitutional rights where you are not subject to inspection without cause or a warrant. I am not trying to wear a foil hat here but it puts you much more on the "radar" of our government.

    Just buy a Bullpup...

I know two people who have been visited by the ATF. Both were because they were on the radar of the ATF because they had registered "evil" weapons. One was because he had pissed off an ex who alerted the police that he had these things and she made up a bunch of stuff that he actually did not have so they used this as a way to gain entry. By the way this guy was a retired Police officer with almost 28 years in when he retired. In that inspection they found two weapons that were shorter than they were supposed to be because the muzzle brakes were changed and he also had mounted a standard lower on an AR pistol because he messed around with it on his property, everything he had was confiscated. He is actually a felon now. The other had his suppressed AR held at a county firing range by the range master when he could not produce his paperwork (who takes that shit to the range). The sheriffs office showed up and ended up giving his stuff back but he was then put under review for not operating in accordance of the law, the firearm equivalent of driving without your license. These might be extreme cases but if you think the legislation that you think protects you is followed by the letter of the law or that will not change is complete BS. Please educate yourself that it is not your actual rights and the law that matters in most cases but in fact the interpretation of the persons wielding the power of the law. I have never known the ATF or even local authorities to have visited anyone who does not have one of these stamps. It is my belief that our government is actually pushing for "gun guys" to build this stuff so they have more visibility but you do you.
