Can you carry more niche stuff or focus on a different market? Long range, competition, ccw, nfa, etc.

Do you carry small parts? Specifically, I'm looking to an extractor for an AR 308. All I've seen that are readily available are the DPMS gen II and JP Enterprises. I'd like to diagnose my BCG before ditching it and buying another.

    Hey All,

What are your opinions of the company POF? I'm looking at the Renegade+ in 5.56. I know they had issues years ago with their barrels and some general QAQC, but it seems like thing shave been taken care of now. I was quoted $1,775 from my local shop. That being said, what other companies do you recommend for that price range? I've looked at the Ruger SR-556, SIG Vtac, and some others that the shop handed me but weren't memorable. I know Im forgetting or not seeing other companies since there are so many. This also isn't my first AR, I had a SR-556 years ago but a double load ended that pretty quick :(

The goal of the rifle is to remain stock, i don't have much interest in aftermarket parts which is why I don't mind spending some money up front and honestly, <1k shots a year. Maybe varmint hunting once a year. That being said, I really like the Ruger AR-556 as just a bare bones rifle.

I'd likely lean Bravo Company personally

I agree with this and I don’t even own one. I have friends that do and I have several Bravo Company parts. For a complete rifle I’d go BCM.

I just put a Bravo Company barrel on my latest built - a 223 Wylde - and am very happy with it. Got it through Primary Arms for under $100.

If youre looking at gas pistion guns such as those, I highly recommend PWS (Primary Weapon Systems). Their proprietary Long Stroke piston system is incredible. Also $300 cheaper than POF.

POF isn't a bad brand by any means, but there's a lot of rifles I'd buy before a POF in that price range.

Like others have said, BCM is an excellent option. At around $1500 their price is good, don't expect lots of extras like ambidextrous controls, unique billet receivers, etc. Do expect an absolutely rock solid platform that will likely never fail you.

Another option, and my personal favorite all around rifle is the American Defense Manufacturing UIC-15. Truly fully ambidextrous, criterion barrel, Radian charging handle/safety, magpul furniture, their stuff is just top notch. They come in at around $1800.

PWS is another great option, albeit a piston gun. Cross Machine Tool also makes a fantastic rifle but at around $1800 I'd lean ADM.

Really, you are in the sweet spot for rifles. Tons of really good options at that price point. Much more expensive than $1800 and you're buying a lot of name and "Gucci" features. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, I own a $2700 Radian and a $3700 2A Armament. But, if I were only able to leave the house with 1 rifle it would be either my ADM or BCM 14.5". Anything below $1000 and you start to make compromises in certain areas. Also nothing wrong with that, I've got a Palmetto and several Aeros, it's just all relative. Food for thought.

I've built two ARs now - one is primarily a PSA kit on a CMMG lower and the other is a conglomeration of parts. Both shoot well, and without failures. My best platform, though, is my Springfield Edge. At under $1000 it is light, tight, accurate and carries features found on rifles that are typically more expensive. Perhaps if I were shooting competitions I'd see a difference in any of them...but for basic target shooting and home defense I have total confidence in all of them.

Thanks for all the replies! I looked at Bravo Company and the BCM RECCE-16 MCMR-LW stands out. Everything in on back-order but I assume that just means they build the rifles as orders come in?

I have heard really good things about Daniel Defense however I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out the differences between the models. Example I can't read what's different between the DDM4V11-LW and the V7, also what does SLW mean? Good rifles but the website leaves some to be desired for us simple people.

At this point you have swayed me towards BCM but Id like to see what your thoughts on the V7 from DD

I think i read a quote somewhere. And i can’t remeber it exactly. But to summarize it... “you buy a DD rifle to show your buddies, you buy a BCM to show your enemies”. Both tier one guns for sure. I’d always suggest building your own, out of the stuff you want... can’t go wrong either way with those brands.

I'm pretty anal when it comes to researching things, hence the couple months i'm taking to figure out a rifle like this. I just don't have the energy to research the details between triggers, uppers, barrels, etc. I'm ok with just paying some money even though I know I could do it cheaper on my own. I'll have to talk with my shop to see what the wait time on BC is looking like.
