It looks like a solid option for an AR. I've been thinking of getting one for awhile. Dude, we got way to many hobbies.

    Between guns and archery haha!

This is a hand guard, designed to have a suppressor fit underneath it. (please check your diameters is if that is you objective)

The hand guard I have/in the photo , is Not made anymore:
Seekins Precision BAR Free Float Quad Rail - 7" BAR Quad Rail 1

But I believe Spikes makes a clone Rail: (that looks identical)

Is there really that much of a difference between piston driven and DI? I've only fired standard DI AR15's and aside from a stuck case (steel case) ive had no issues and they run great.

DI'S do run great, don't get me wrong. But as you go to clean your piston AR for the first time, you'll under stand why there better. That, and like I said before. most of them have gas flow adjustment knobs, so you can tune them to the various styles of rounds that can be run though them.

Think of it this way, if the piston AR would have been in the original design in the first place, they would have had far less problems while in service and those stupid bump assists would have never been put on and the functioning of them wouldn't of been messed with by the bureaucrats. AND A-LOT MORE OF OUR FATHERS/BROTHERS/UNCLE AND FELLOW AMERICAN WOULD OF COME BACK HOME ALIVE!

 Yes, it is a night and day difference on how clean a piston system is over a DI

How's your experience between carbine length and pistol length gas systems? Asking because that looks to be carbine. And I've got the same comp, does wonders with 300AAC

I can't make a comparison - haven't fired a pistol length system. My systems are all mid or carbine length.

    I won it in a raffle - it's a Thompson/Auto Ordnance AR pistol in .223 Wylde.

I finally was able to get out and sight in the AR-15 I built. It was a my first low-profile build, and I was worried the gas tube wasn't going to be lined up right. It fired flawlessly. I really like the Trijicon Accupoint 1-4. It is a red dot on 1X and a ACOG on 4. There is something to be said for the old A2 Stock, it really is comfortable. And I have to admit, I now like plastic magpul mags.
I have to say I am pretty proud of my self, I built all 3 of these guns completely from the ground up and never once has there been a jam or failure to fire. [IMG]

What general use 556 ammo do you all use? Im looking for ammo to use at the range shooting steel plates out to 500 yds, general plinking and keeping a mag of handy when camping. Not looking for extreme accuracy and not looking for a hunting round.

Been using American eagle 223 55gr, just seeing what else i should look at.

80 to 90% of what I shoot is .223 from Georgia Arms. they are reloads but I have never had a problem with them. they call it "canned heat"

There's a good chance I am in the minority here, but I have had great luck with steel case ammo. Both of my rifles will eat it up no problem. I don't mean going to the range and shooting a mag and leaving either. For the price, it can't be beat.

But having said that, brass is cheap and abundant for the time being also. I use American Eagle and PMC mostly as far as brass goes.

Wolf Gold-I've used lots of it although never at 500 yards.
IMI razor core 77gr is very accurate at distance. I have some of their 55gr stuff but have not tested for accuracy.
