When I was in Cali I used Raddlock, however thats no longer legal.
I've seen a cool system that has a screw in the top of a mag, crack open the rifle and reload the mag from the top.

Check out 33.3. One of the major improvements I see with theirs is the rear take down pin rotates 180* forward to allow the receivers to split just enough to release the mag lock but will not let the receivers split all the way and holds them in place with just enough misalignment to follow the law. When you rotate back, it closes the receivers and you're ready to fire again. This takes away some of the clumsy reloads you'll see with other mag-lock style compliant kits. At $90 per rifle it isn't exactly cheap but it's on par with what else is out there.

If you want cheap and just enough to get you legal, you can get the Hogue Freedom fighter kit. One kit has parts to do 3 rifles for $43. Super easy to install and completely un-noticeable externally. Plus if you ever go to a less-restrictive state, all you need to remove the device is a single allen key.

Look up both on you tube.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually ordered one on Monday and it came in yesterday. I like it out of the box. I can't wait until our fire restrictions are lifted so i can go shoot with it.

4.75" barrel AR9, Griffin Optimus, maybe when Black Friday rolls around I'll get a Holosun for it to replace the POS on it.
I finally got the thread adapter and piston sleeve in the mail today.

So this build was just going to be a new upper from a spare 16" barrel, then RRA has a $60 sale on their lowers, so I ended up build a whole new DMR with the new style low profile gas block and full handguard. 16" barrel, 15.5 SLR Rifleworks handguard, Vltor Upper, RRA Lower, Nickle Boron BCG, POF 3.5lb trigger, Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x, LaRue Mount. Silencerco muzzlebreak/adapter. It took about 8 months, waiting for sales and buying 1 part a month.

Actually really like that reticle (why does spellcheck not recognize reticle ). Gives a very clear view for sight-picture.

You cant go wrong with Trijicon. Funny you should mention it...I really debated on it for a while. I really wanted a mil dot cross hair, but they don't make it on the 1-4 (they do on the 1-6, but there is a huge price jump). But after reading a lot of forums, everyone recommends this "Triangle Post". I wasn't sure, because my only experience with this type of recticle was in a video game using the British SA80 and I didnt like it. But given that I am a Aimpoint guy, many people said this optic at 1x is just like a Aimpoint, and at 4X it is just like an ACOG...so best of both Worlds..and they were right. Think of it as a very tall front post with huge rear peep sight.
It was a little pricey, but I just used up all my cash back on my credit card for the past 2 years..and that paid for it. Most places have it for close to $1,000, but Budsgunshop had it for $725, no tax/shipping. (Their stuff does not show up any google search..you have to log in and look around the site for the best prices. I thought it was going to have really old tritium, but I checked the serial number with Trijicon, and it was only made a month prior to my purchase! The crosshair versions are slightly cheaper

I swear I’m loosing my mind, I got my mag block adapter out last week to install it this week and now I can’t find it anywhere, I also don’t know where the 9mm buffer is, but I haven’t seen that since I moved...

I just bought the 29, are they as good as they appear to be?

I think they're pretty cool. Looking at that Midway link: The Field Model is the same as the Hunter29 and the treestand model is the same as the Hunter42. Just changed the names. There is an updated picatinny rail adapter on the way too. I like how they swivel with the movement of the shooter but keep the barrel stable and level at all times. Is it worth $150-$200? That's up to you. If you're hunting out West on rocky terrain, then it's probably a valid expense. They certainly seem more sturdy and better built than other, similar products.

Is there an advantage of green laser over a red laser?, or is it just a personal preference? Also, in what situation would a strobe come in handy? Is it a good option to have on a light? Thanks.

Most people agree that green lasers are easier to see in the day then red ones and pretty much the same at night. And the strobe has a confusing affect or disabling affect. It dilates their eyes making it very hard to see you as it goes on and off. Obviously much more effective at night then during the day.

One more question concerning light/ laser combos: Dose it make a big difference whether the laser is located near the barrel, above the light, or below the light? thanks again.

Closer to the center of the bore, the better. Look at a trajectory/line of sight chart, you will see. Above or below makes a difference. Angle of the dangle ;)
