Having a shot timer is great. The tough part (for me) is finding a place to shoot where you can actually use it. I recently thought I found a range that would work for me since they host IDPA matches and members have access to bermed ranges where you can shoot on the move as well as 2-300 yd lanes. Then I heard a couple of RSOs laughing about kicking out a member that had an SBR because "we don't allow class 3 weapons". That was a deal breaker right there.

What scope are you running? Looking for something for my .300 rifle similar to yours with the A2 stock. Looking at some of the vortex offerings.

I just built my first AR this past black friday and am looking for scope recommendations. Its a 16" Aero Precision upper, gun will be used mostly as a range toy 50-200 yards and possibly some coyote hunting. Looking for a scope that won't break the bank.

    Budget?

I'm a vortex fanboy, but my black friday 6.5 grendel build is wearing a Bushnell TRS25

I've recently become a Primary Arms convert. Their rangefinding reticles are really intuitive, and the price ain't bad.

    Stick with something name brand...
Primary Arms 1-6's are great for the money, Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6's are good too. The Leupold Mark AR 1-4 is fantastic too, and only around $225.
Good mounts are also important. Aero Precision makes an affordable mount. ADM is my favorite but quite a bit more expensive.

I have a vortex strike eagle 1-6. Its excellent, huge step up from the 1-4 crossfire and not too insanely priced.

The hashmarks have been dead on from 50 to 500yds w/ standard 55gr 556

Depending on the style you want I would check out the burris fullfield tac 30 1x4 and the vortex spitfire 3x. Both have glass etched reticles that work either with illumination on or off. I've got both and they are rock solid, hold zero and have bdc reticles out to 500yds. Not to mention no questions asked lifetime warranties

I have 2 of these Weaver 1-3x scopes and they work great one on an AR in 5.56 and the other on a ruger 10-22. The first one I got I put on a .458 win mag and put a couple hundred rounds through it after that it went on my .375 H&H and I probably put 150 rounds through that one. I figured if it held up to that amount of punishment it could Handel an AR. https://www.opticsplanet.com/weaver-rifle-scopes-v3-hunting-849400.html

Range toy, 50-250? You can't go wrong with Vortex IMO, the crossfire2 is a decent line of scopes for around $150 (just get a decent mount, aero precision makes a great one).. Also, a lot of people I've talked to like the primary arms or vortex prism scopes for those distances
