Looks awesome but I personally would not buy a barrel shorter than 10.5" unless it was a 9mm carbine.

I will get the 16 inch barrel variant. I wouldnt get anything less than 14.5 for accuracy reasons. I am almost leaning towards the 16 inch Precision Marksman version. I sold my bushmaster last night for 1000, I will keep saving pennies until that gun comes out and I will pick it up

Cool. I have a 10.5" LMT and it keyholes often with 55gr projectiles. Heavier bullets work better...I also have a very accurate 14.5" LWRC. Next will be a 18.5" Mark 12 clone.

I didnt really want to get the first batch of 516's. Not to mention, it will probably be a year or so before they work all the glitches out of the gun.

The 516 got me started thinking about piston ARs, so I did a bunch of research and found that the SR556 would work perfectly for what I want to do.

I am not saying I wont get a 516, I may just sell that SR556 in a year or so and pick one up- If they end up being good guns that is.

Depending on how hard you are on your rifle should determine you quality of buy. Do some research and you will find that most of the civillian ar15s are mass produced with profits in mind not total quality of product. If you are a guy you who shoots a 1000 rounds a year or 10000 rounds you be the judge on that. Dpms, rockriver, bushmaster, are good rifles... but there are better ones out there for a little more that have all the necessary parts and quality assembly and inspection before leaving the factory. that is all the difference between the companies. I am in the industry and also a armorer....

I got a chance to put about 100 rounds through it this weekend. The gun performed flawlessly. I was very happy with the grouping at 100 yards. I sighted the fixed sights in at 100, mounted the Eotech and sighted it in at 75.
The gun has a great feel. I did mostly benched shooting, but when I did shoot it standing up, I didnt really notice the weight of the gun. I am extremely satisfied with how it performed.

nice. the SR556 is one of the models i am considering if i decide to give an AR platform a greenlight. are the flip sights able to be used with the EOTech mounted? now it's time to find a nice single point sling for that new rifle....maybe a foregrip, too. i like this one: http://www.makosecurity.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MG20&Category_Code=_fg

it looks goofy with a 30rd mag, but a 20 fits nicely. got my buddy one for this past christmas.

Yeah, the EOtech works with the flip sights. If you have the sights up, you can see through the holographic sight- but only barely. You look through the bottom quarter of the sight.

Thanks for the link, I will have to put some thought into the things I want to mount on the gun now.
