I don't like the lower 1/3 view. I mount my Eotech directly on the rail for a co-witness with the irons.

do you guys consider fold down rear sights. I had my aimpoint set to cowitness with a troy rear folding sight. After setting it up, I dropped the rear down, and was good to go

My holo sight is directly on the rail as well. If I want to line up all 3 sights, thats when I have to use the bottom portion of the holographic. I dont really ever intend on using all 3 together, though. I didnt try co-witnessing with the holo and the front sight only. I will give that a try next time I take it out.

On that SR556, both the front and rear sights fold.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
A real testament to quality and performance is to go to Camp Perry and see what the REAL shooters are shooting.
You won't find many production-line Colts.
Lot's of Rock River lowers and triggers.
White Oak Armament is a respected name.
I should say these are service rifle competitions.
I you want a quasi-combat rifle, just pick any and stick a bunch of rails and collapsible stock on it.
Guys that don't shoot competition argue this stuff all the time.

Look over in the sandbox and I bet you see a lot of production line colts.

    You're right.
I wanted better performance than 'minute of sandbox' and got it.
    Some just want Rambo guns.

    out of curiosity

could someone please explain to me what constitutes a "real" shooter?

because i thought SURE it was the people whos lives depend on their weapons at all times...but apparently i was wrong and competition shooters are obviously the "real" shooters...

I sense you are baiting me but WTH, I'll play....
Some people burn ammo....spray and pray, or CQB.
Some place a higher value on precision shooting.
    Think sniper vs grunt.
Some have AR's provided by the govt...hope they serve you well.
Some buy AR's because they look cools and have to have one 'just like the guys on TV'...some buy AR's because they can be configured to shoot like a sniper rifle and kill unwanted vermin out to 300, 600 or more yards.
The precision shooters don't have collapsible buttstocks or quad rails or flashlights or lasers or the other GI Joe accessories, the have free floated handguards and 1/7 stainless barrels and have DI gas systems that work very well.

The one I shoot doesn't even have a muzzle brake or flash hider.

    Amazing.

I understand your logic to a degree. However, I do not see my type of shooting listed here. Some buy ARs because they do 2 or 3 gun comp shooting and want something that fires every time they pull the trigger. I just want a high quality, fun, AR because I enjoy shooting them.

So snipers and competition shooters are real shooters and grunts and gun enthusiasts are not?
    I guess I'm still confused.
I hunt; does that make me real or pretend?
