Yeah I went down that rabbit hole while waiting for the Aero Stainless barreled uppers to return to stock.
Ultimately my choice was buy a $1800+ complete upper or wait for the Aero. Buying a barrel just seemed impossible in the short term. I settled on the Aero upper figuring if I really want to chase 1/2 MOA out of an AR10 later I can

I am thinking it will mostlikely be an Aero or BA barrel at least if I order the BA barrel regularly i can get it pinned on. I will probably also look at Faxon barrels and see what I find

I tried to purchase. I wanted to use a prepaid visa I got for my birthday to cover part of it but it wouldn't accept it. I don't want to put anymore on my CC than I have to. I sent them a quick message in their system then an actual email with the item number. I explained i can call monday and pay over the phone if that is what works best but that I wanted to insure that price. I guess we will see what they respond if it works out it does if not oh well i guess just not meant to be

So I started yesterday thinking I was going to get @gixxerphil going with my big bargain find and it backfired. I will not post to harass him anymore as it ended up costing me waaay more money :frusty:
All jokes aside good deals are hard to pass up and actually ended up saving me quite a bit thanks Phillip

    Alright so conundrum for everyone.
Took the aero Ar10 .308 out again today to test functionality after the extractor fix. Hit or miss results
One brand of ammo it just doesn't like so leaving that out

    Tested the following
    PMC 147 gr brass
    Ammo inc 150 gr brass
    S&B 168 gr bthp
Federal GMM 168 and 175 smk

With the exception of the pmc and s&b loads the gun would short stroke where the bolt does not get all the way to the rear. Can't figure it out
Thoughts are run about 100 more rounds through it to shoot the new out of it. Or start chasing problems and replacing parts like go to adjustable gas block and new gas lines

    Screen shot of short stroke

I had a 450 bushmaster upper on an AR-15 that wouldn’t cycle, drilled out the gas port on the barrel and it ran fine after that. It didn’t need much, maybe 1/32”, used whatever drill bit I had that was the next size up of the gas port.

I have a feeling ill ultimately go to adjustable gas block because suppressor. Emailed the video to aero to see what they say. I'm just surprised it would be under gassed

Was it short stroking with the supressor?

No can on it. Have one in jail but ordering a sandman s for this one as the TBAC likely will have too much backpressure

I'm wondering if more shots will "break it in' more. Yes it sounds undergassed I wonder what it would do right now with a suppressor? I'm deffinately curious as I am essentially building the same rifle

PredatOBR barrels have a 2 position gas block for suppressed/unsuppressed.
The barrels that come in the UU kits are the same profile, but with a regular gas block.

oh and btw they just started a lower sale: one small frame and one large frame stripped lower.
    https://www.larue.com/products/lower-combo/?mc_cid=47021006e7&mc_eid=13f1ca5456
and rumor on the Gram is that UU kits are almost caught up and will resume orders again.

haven’t shot my ar at all this year so it’s hard to justify buying more stripped lowers (cause we all know what stripped lowers leads to) but goddamn I’ve wanted a large frame for a long time.

Funny is I expected to run into gas issues when I got the can just not on a new un suppressed rifle. I'm curious to see what they say. If they have me send it back I may see if I can swap it for the adjustable gas block. I've got about 100 rounds through it now.

That ammo inc 150gr is awful running about 5 moa so I might just go blow the last 80 rds of it to see if it clears it out more and shoot the new out of the rifle

I built the UU kit on a Aero enhanced lower. It went together like a breeze and shoots fantastic. Now that I am building this rifle I am exploring all avenues for a barrel and the Lord knows I am tickled with the Larue barrell so looked to see if they had an offering to consider but according to larue their 7.62 barrels only fit their uppers.
