I am vested in seeing how this works out for you I am sure you can understand that. Albeit with a bolt gun I have had incredible results with the federal Power shock 150 grain and fully intend to try it in this rifle, if i can find it. What length gas system and buffer assembly do you have?

that’s the big drawback to the large frame design, there is no standard like with the ar15 TDP.
Almost all the larger stuff isn’t plug and play amongst different manufacturers. They’re some crossover but there is so much that is proprietary.
part of what makes them difficult to tune, the buffer, buffer tube, spring and mags make it a crapshoot unless you buy all one manufacturer.
I spent a lot getting my old cmmg 308 to run, swapping out buffers and springs and tubes. Ended up parting it out.

eta: I’ve lusted over the 308 Larue for years. Still kick myself for passing on a KAC m110 parts gun for $2,000 back in 2010. That same gun is worth $5,000 now.

Buffer is Aero m5 enhanced carbine buffer kit no changes to buffer or spring.
Gas system is stock Aero rifle length that came on the upper

While I am loking at different barrel optons I am prety much settled o keeping it all Aero/ ballistic Advantage it just seems it may eliminate more possible issues.

Thanks, I am looking at a rifle length system and already set up with the A2 buffer assetmbly. I know this is very frustrating for you but I am hoping to learn more from this issue and perhaps elimintate having the same issue

    For groups today
Federal gold medal smk 168 and 175 both just under 2 moa and a lot was me just being frustrated and losing cheek weld having to check and re chamber rounds both shot 3 shot 1 moa or better when I could maintain weld and the rifle functioned properly
S&B 168 bthp was around 2 moa while I have had good luck with s&b as a less expensive option the 308 is not significantly cheaper than the Federal gold medal match to buy it over Federal

For cheap stuff PMC did miles better than ammo inc. I'm still wanting to try the 150gr champion sp but they are priced almost as much as the 168 gold medal last I saw. I'll prob try some IMI 147s maybe s&b 150s too

Ultimately I'm looking for which top tier match grade it likes best then which less expensive round it likes and I'll just stock up on those 2

My Aero M5 with standard buffer, Aero 20" upper and Aero BCG functioned fine with 168gr. GMM. Also worked with PPU 147gr. ball.

That sonds promising. Since I have the A2 buffer I have been favoring a rifle length gas system in either 18 or 20" barrel. I'd prefer an 18" barrel but we will see

Brass looked fine consistent center punch primer strikes of consistent depth. No markings on the brass itself

Taking the gas system apart right now.

Other than some decent carbon fouling for low round count no obstructions everything seemed to be in order maybe 1-2 degrees from perfectly straight. I'll re install and try and see if it helps.

Overgassed often looks like short stroke because the BCG is pulling on case before pressure drops on chamber. If you already removed extractor orings, you won't see claw marks any more.

Well just in case the gas system clean out and small alignment adjustment doesn't work I ordered a superlative arms adjustable gas block today. Figured I was going to need it for the suppressor anyway.

Picked up some federal power shock 150's and federal Berger 168s to try too

Got my trigger. Now I just need to go grab a grip. I'm gonna grab a Magpul K2+ just because that's what I have on my or AR platforms, although I do like the look of the Ergo with the plate.

For those wondering. Here's an Elftmann Pro Match, AR15/10, and AR9. Elftmann stats that the Pro Match triggers will work for all platforms. The only difference I can see is the threaded inserts of the Pro Match. The AR15/10 and AR9 seem identical.

Got my lower put together, now to wait for the upper and decide what stock to go with. Also need to get an Elftmann safety

Well kinda disappointed with Aero's reply. Seems like they just took the easy way out. Guess I'm on my own to fix it. Adjustable Gas block should be here this weekend.

I don’t get it. They aren’t wrong. If you have the appropriate gas system, adjustable or fixed, and you are looking to tune your rifle for reliability, then you need the appropriate buffer to give the rifle the appropriate dwell time.

I apologize, I didn’t really see the original problem up above in the thread, so I might be misspeaking on your specific problem, but over the years most of these problems I see people have are all about the same, so I’m generalizing in the trouble shoot.

If you’re buffer, gas tube are all for sure working components for a particular set up…then the issue is your gas hole in the barrel is incorrect. While a adjustable gas block CAN fix your issue in these scenarios it doesn’t address the actual problem. It’s just duct tape and 550 cord.
