There are other options than gear clamps, check out the boss 4x4 awning thread. They used something called axia clamps i belive on round thule bars instead of gear clamps... you could probably try those. Or ubolts?

Here is my basic idea. Using the mighty mount as the base on the rack bar and a 1/8 steel bar curved around it for support of the awning. I bought my awning used so that was the adapter that was on it.

My original plan didn't quite work so I ordered the universal arb awning mount. Should to finish up this weekend.

I was hoping I could mount it stowed, but not sure if the rack would be happy with the weight so I'm going to have to do it on both bars.

    I used mighty mount 39H.

I may still end up wrapping the plastic mount with some steel so it doesn't put too much pressure on the plastic might mount.

    End result.
    Mighty Mount 39H
    Arb universal awning bracket
6mm bolt to attach awning to bracket.
I can't remember what size bolt to attach to the bracket to the mount.

Great job! I just bought an ARB awning as well and have been trying to figure out a way to run it with my existing OEM roof rack. I have a Softopper as well which I was trying to build something to attach the awning to it, but I'm still not happy with what I've come up with.

    Again, nice work

I've seen some custom bed racks that go around the soft topper that you could have fabricated and use to mount.

I've seen some really nice ones but I don't want to lose the ability to haul motorcycles in the bed of my truck. I like the soft top because I can fold it forward, and was considering building something rigid on the one side that wouldn't impact the overal storage in the bed. I will post what I come up with as soon as I dial it in!

OP. What size awning is that? And any regrets now that it has been mounted for a while ?

No so I ended up using the same mounting system and hardware OP used. That idea did work well though and I would say that it made the rack sturdier by having the awning connecting both crossbars

Looks like I’ll be following in your footsteps. Any input on how thick those Mighty Mounts are so I can plan ahead for hardware?
