I wanted to be able to use my ARB 2000 awning and room with my truck when I decide to not bring my camper and just use the RTT. I have a RCI bed rack. I had some brackets custom made. They were styled after the RCI rack which uses long tracks to be able to adjust where you mount the tent. This allows me to slide the brackets in and out as well as move the awning up and down. They probably made them a little too tall. Also, it is 1/4 steel, I initially had the tent on the back 2 rails and the brackets hanging out more. It wasn't as sturdy as I liked, so I moved the awning up to the front and pushed the brackets towards the front. I probably should have had them made out of 3/8 steel. I will bring them back and have them reinforce them. Any thoughts on the set up? I don't think I will travel with the awning up as there is too much dynamic movement.

Doubles as a spoiler for all those high speed drags down the interstate.

Sorry to dig up an old post, but how did these brackets end up working out? I’d like to do something similar for my setup, I have a tent mounted on front Runner bars on top of my diamondback cover. Looking for something to raise an awning much higher up because of that, and this seems like a good option.
