    Hey Fam,

I treated myself this Chrismas to a new bumper and winch. I'm learning to wrench on this truck and this install is going to be my biggest undertaking yet. I've watched all the YouTube videos I can find and read the tutorial write-ups and feeling pretty prepared.

So I dug into the instructions and broke out the hardware bag. I took all the hardware and put like with like, then worked down the list and bagged that hardware for the different components in the list below. When I got to the end I was left with quite a bit of extra hardware.. So I'm hoping someone can clue me in on what might go where. Is it optional for accessories, or is ARB known for putting extra stuff?

Below is the list, and I have a part for everything listed.

After bagging everything I was left with the hardware below. I numbered them. If you have an Idea what goes where I would love to hear. Specifically, I'm curious about #4, #5 and #7.

    Appreciate all your time :D

Wow, what an absolute pleasure to read of a post. Everything was perfectly clear.
I don't have the answers you're seeking but the ARB bars I've installed in the past all 4 of them left me with extra hardware and I remember those brackets, and long bolts. And this wasn't even on a Tacoma. So it must be something that all of the vehicles can use with the bar/bumper

Hey, I did the ARB Bullbar bumper and the Warn M8000 winch a few months ago and had a good amount of extra kit from the bag too. What I didn't use in the install just went into the 'Oh sh!t, I need a bolt bag' I keep with my trail gear. BONUS!

Pretty sure those are parts for the shoulder thingy that goes up o_O

Really though, congrats on that bumper! Keep eyeballing it myself...

#7 is the relocation bracket for the winch solenoid box. If you're running a winch then you'll need to relocate the control box to the top of the bumper.

#1 should be for the metal skid plate that comes with the bumper. I can't remember if it's the forward or aft edge

#4 & #5 I remember installing but can't for the life of me remember where. I'll take a peek under the truck tomorrow and see if I can see them. Something to keep in mind, if I recall correctly there was a minor change for the 2002 model year that used some additional parts. If you have a 2001, you might not need them.

Another thing to think about: I'm not sure how far into the install you are but the endcap mod is a great thing to do, especially if you plan on winching. You can hold off til you start to have a problem, and in reality that might take some time (took about four years for me), but it's something to plan on doing eventually.

Do yourself a favor and after you get the crash bars installed, put the winch on before installing the bumper part. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks ya’ll. It took a bit longer then I originally estimated but got the winch and bumper on. @Timmah! ’s video https://youtu.be/Wey2f8n0Klc is what helped a ton! Along with a few other user guides. ARB’ instructions are garbage. Tim’s video is for a 4-runner but it was close enough for the Tacoma that it helped tie together the other question marks I had floating around my head.

Looks nice! I have that same model and it has saved my front end in crashes a number of times.
How is front your suspension taking the new load?

    Loving it.

Funny how my ARB bumper is scheduled to arrive in a few days for my '01 as well.

Only thing I'm not looking forward to is lifting the heavy thing with the winch I'll be putting in.

What did you end up paying and where from? I’ve been trying to find a deal but everywhere seems about the same.

I feel like I remember these being $800 a few years ago. Steel tariffs maybe?

Stand sideways with one leg slightly in front of the other, turn your waist directly towards the bumper, kneel down slightly, grip it like you're gonna do a dead lift, and lift mostly with your legs. Best advice I can give you.

The attached install instructions are the most current and were updated 09/20/2011. I just received them from ARB USA Tech Support after calling to discuss install on 2002 prior Tacomas.

Want to share here so there is no old info floating about.

    Couple of points:

    1. There is NO cutting that is necessary - on any year.
    2. You will be drilling but that is part of the install for all years.
    3. NO reinforcement of the frame or the way the bumper is mounted is necessary when running a winch. Doing so will void your warranty. You can do what you want, your truck - just passing on what I learned from talking with ARB.

So there you have it. Lot of old install instructions floating about out there but these are current. Oh and they include torque values. Something I haven't seen before with their documentation.

Anyone know the part number of those square nuts in group number 1 shown here? I just got a used ARB bumper and the previous owner use regular nuts which were very difficult to reach in to tighten/loosen with a wrench or socket. I want to order the nuts shown in group 1 and 3.
