You would have to agree that when they designed the bumper, they did not have lifts and larger tires in mind.

A bumper built to match the fender flares will eventually cause problems, when after market wheels and tires are added. When the sway bar is removed the additional up travel will also cause problems for the flare and bumper.

That is how the ARB should look.

    ^Yes.

285s don't work with this bumper well. Even 265x75R16s get sliced to hell full stuff.

    A few bolts are different.
So far 285's and my FJ rims work like a charm. I have not hit the bumper yet. I did just take the sway bar off so I'll see if that really makes a bunch of difference. I didnt have the sway bar on when Chad and I went as far as possible on Cascade Creek a couple weeks back and I never rubbed. I will admit I think I will flex further than any of what we did on the trail that day. FWIW the FJ rims are 4.5" backspacing on a 7.5" wide rim.

I barely rubbed mine with 285s, spidertrax, and no sway bar. Even at moab I barely rubbed it. A lot of it is alignment related I expect.

Cut it and don't worry about it.

When I had the ARB bumper on my stock 2010 DCSB, it sagged the front end 3/4 of an inch. You will hear a loud clunk when flying over railroad crossing etc. Also after I pulled out the stock front suspension (exchanged it for OME set-up) the bushings on the stock shocks were starting to show wear.

Personally I would not recommend the ARB bumber with stock suspension. That is my experience. You will really feel it when cornering and when braking.

I do recall just after installing my ARB bumper back in 2006, that the front felt real heavy in cornering. I adjusted my driving habbits a little and I love that bumper! I had stock suspension when I first got the ARB, but soon after I put the Old Man Emu (OME) suspension and that made a big difference in handling with the ARB up front.

Rich, i just installed my ARB bumper this weekend.(my is for the foglights cut out) and i do agree with you, it's heavy during cornering and you kinda of have to baby it. I'm also looking for the ome suspension, what set up did you go with? like 885 or 886 what shocks and leaf spring? this is going to be my next project.

    thanks

With the ARB Bumper, you will want the OME 886 springs. The OME 885's are for a bull bar type front bumper. (Less weight 70-180lbs) I have OME struts with the 886 springs. I have had this since 2006 and they now have OME 886 designed for HEAVY LOAD 110-220lbs and now have Scragging before and after shot peening to prevent sagging. My old ones did not have this and after 3 years the springs sagged, (Bumper + 100Lb winch) so I recently added a 7/8" spacer to increase my lift up front. In the rear I have the Dakar/OME CS047R leaf springs with nitro charged OMEN182 shocks. I also added the toytec 3 degree shims. Hope this info helps. feel free to ask me about my set up.

Any tips on installing? My friend and I are going to install after I pick it up at his house vs driving back to Ky with it in the bed.

Then ordering my 886s and shocks front and back!!

here's a finished install on my ARB bumper. it took me about 3 days. I did a little bit here and there, that's why it took me so long. If i were to do it again, it'll probably take me about 4 hours straight. The most tedious part of the install was trying to align the fender line. The spec say to have it between 15mm to 20mm, personally i think that's too wide, so i adjusted to 10mm. I'm very happy and proud of my install and i also want to give my sincere thank you to all TW members who helped me with my install and questions. I will be picking up my foglights tomorrow and installing them soon. My next project would be my suspension and winch work (that should be a lot of fun). If anybody have any suggestions or comments about what suspension set up i should go with, I would appreciate it. here's a few pic

One more thing. I think they shipped me the wrong lights that goes next to the foglights. there were no instructions with it but i tried every different way and angle but i couldn't get it to fit in the black casing. here's the pics.

thank you Rich. I'm leaning towards the OME set up also. I just want to do a little bit more research before i drop the cash in this set up and yes I will be asking you a bunch of questions. LOL
