ARB Bumper Color

Ever think about putting the bumper in the bed and comparing colors.

 

It's bedlined.

 

Can the powder coat be clear-coated?

 

Yes & no. There's clear powder coat but it may not be what you're looking for. Powder coat needs a much more rough surface to adhere well. Well you don't have to but it may not last long. Many people say you can't paint over powder coat but you can, you just have to be sure to roughen up the surface well. So if you just paint clear over the the powder coat as is it won't be durable. And it'll look like shit if you sand first then clear. If it's wrinkle finish powder coat paint sticks much better, I've had good results with just a light scuff prior to paint.

But I'm not a painter. Maybe stop by a body shop & show them the bumper & ask what options you have.

 

You can clear coat or paint over, just a matter of how well it will stay adhere to it, prepping is key.

Black and white are base colors, they ad pigments, (drops) of other colors in it to change the tone of the nature base color.
That's probably why you see brown.

 

Well I may not be seeing brown. It could be my 50 yr old eyes, garage lighting, both, etc. I'll pull them both into the sunlight tomorrow and compare.

 

I dunno, your eyes don't look 50 yrs old in your avatar.

 

I like the color seven, but it doesn't match my dashcam's split-ends, so I'll stick with bookends and cat ears for now.

 

Or a lighter shade of pale...

I know what your saying.ive seen it more than once.The black has an almost brown shade to it.i personally would never pay to get piece of armour powder coated.

Or better. If you know what your doing.powder coating is for mall crawlers imo.

 

Two problems with that.
The first is getting the paint to adhere, but light sanding would get it to bond.
Second I wonder if you can get a liquid paint that will match the durability of powdercoating... I doubt it.
