The ARB fog light lenses in my ARB are broken. Though the fog lights still work, I was wondering if anyone has found a non-ARB LED light that can be adapted to fit the fog light recess in the ARB bumper?

    Thanks.

    Most useful search ever :).

A question followed by a useful answer.

My fog light cover also cracked recently and I'm looking for alternatives. I'll read through the article that qnyla posted, but has anyone else found alternatives?

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I'm not sure if they will fit, but KC makes some nice OEM replacement fog lights. They also have a generic that might pop right in.

How old are your lights? I had the lens on one of mine crack in a circular pattern and when I contacted Cruiser Outfitters they helped me out. I couldn't find any LEDs that I thought might work at the time so that first post is good news.

    I did find these.

Yes, so our LED fog lights actually fit with minimal effort!! Here's a great guide on how to install these lights in an ARB bumper and it is very simple if you have a dremel or a similar sort of tool. I found this originally at the link below and have basically copied and pasted all of this... it is not mine. If you're interested, please PM me for pricing on the fogs!

    ARB Fog Light Replacement

This guide explains how we installed the KC Hilites Gravity 4″ fog lights into our ARB bumper. This should work with all ARB bumpers that have the triangular plastic light housings. We are impressed with the light output and color of these LEDs and its nice KC gives the option for an amber kit as well. This install method will require you to already have the ARB fog light kit since we will be using the housing from the ARB lights. You can also mount them by epoxying some pins on the side of the lights, this was out original plan but found this alternate method which was much easier.

    Step 1

Remove both fog lights from the bumper. You can do this by unplugging the wires, removing the adjustment screw and spring, and pop the lights pins out of the mount. Once removed unscrew the two small screws that are located behind the mounting pins and separate the housing from the light.

    Step 2

Next prep the KC fog lights by removing the mounting bracket and trim the two metal tabs from the rear of the light.

    Step 3

Next use a dremel or box knife to cut open the rear of the ARB light housing. We started with a circle then adjusted the dimensions so the back of the KC light fit through. You will also note that you will need to cut a bit of excess around where the KC lights original mounting holes are located. Trim until the light fits flush inside the front lip of the housing.

    Step 4

Next I drilled a hole in the bottom of the housing to allow water to drain if needed.

    Step 5

There are two way you can do the next step. I used epoxy to glue the light to the housing but if you want to be able to remove the light and reuse the housing I recommend carefully cutting the back of the housing so the original KC mounting screws will hold the light back against the housing. It could be done and will allow the housing to be reused if a light happens to break. If you decide to use epoxy, lay a light bead around the back of the lip on the light. Then place the light into the housing making sure the light is level in the housing and the tabs for the light adjustment are at the top of the light.

    Step 6

Once the light has cured you are all set to reinstall the light back into the housing on the bumper. Install the adjustment screw and spring, and connect the wiring as required. If you are replacing previously installed ARB fog lights and they were installed according to ARB’s instructions, then the white wire is positive and connects to the red lead on the KC lights.

Honestly I'm surprised that none of the major light manufactures, especially ARB and IPF, have not made a replacement LED light given the worldwide popularity of the ARB bumpers.

I have been trying for years, and through three ARB equipped vehicles, to either find an LED solution or find someone willing to manufacture a retrofit option. I like that KC has stepped up to provide some guidance, but I wish their light came in an amber option. Ideally I would like to mount an amber BajaDesigns unit in there, but would be happy with an RI as well. I know there have been a few companies that have done options, but I can't find them out there anymore. Slee, to be more specific.

Now to decide which beam pattern suites fog light duties best...

I like my KC fogs, but I did not know about the Paranoid Fab brackets until after I completed the retrofit. The KC lights are dot approved and are very amber-colored. If I were to do it again I would prefer the yellow Baja designs lights even though they are not dot approved.

Yeah, I am not a fan of the color/temp of the light that the KC's throw. I have been running PIAA IonPlasma for 15+ years in multiple vehicles and love the color they throw in dust and inclement weather. Because of this, I will most likely be running the BD in amber.

Sorry to thread jack a bit, but my bumper did not come with the part that holds the fog light. Where could i source one of those? I was thinking about making one to hold the foglights that were already in the stock bumper since they were upgraded and pretty bright.

Pretty much any vendor that sells the ARB bars should be able to sell you the fog kit.

    Hey guys,

I have created a simple write-up on How-To Upgrade from Halogen to LED Bulbs in ARB Fog Lights. I wanted to share with the hoping of helping someone else with the mod!

    Cheers!
