ARB CKMTA12 & BlueSea 5026

    So I just wanted to do a quick update of my latest project. Not a very thorough step by step guide here, nonetheless all of your threads and photos have inspired me to share this information.

    So I set out to make 2 brackets so that I could mount the OBA
    $611 ARB CKMTA12 '12V' On-Board Twin High Performance Air Compressor, Ideal for Air Lockers Locking Differentials, Tire Inflator, Air Horn, Air Tools and Pneumatic Tools.
    ARB CKMTA12 compressor under the hood as well as the Blue Sea 5026 circuit panel.

    I am not finished with the project yet as I still have to mount the switches and tidy up the wiring under the dash----lets call the project 90%.

    So to start I made a cardboard template and then drew up dimensions in google sketchup

    After I felt very confident that this would be exactly what I wanted, I took the drawings over to an acquaintance/friend who has a fabricating shop for build. His shop specialty really is powdercoating not fabricating. Anyway so here are the brackets installed.

    Hoping to get the rest of the electrical tied up today. Then I'll test out my new OBA by going out in the sand, let the air down and air back up. Can't wait!!

    Can you air up your tires directly from compressor or do you need an air tank with that model compressor?

    Mlbdriver. You have to purchase the air up kit which is #171302 (I think). And yes you can air up directly from the compressor.

    Familiar yes, but not CNC like your design. I want to build a CNC table to make custom parts like you. Unfortunately this is what I will have to settle for based on my time available currently with work, family and life in general!

    I haven't seen any brackets for the compressor under the hood for gen 2 like I did. Not saying it hasn't been done, just haven't been a member long enough or seen enough posts about OBA I guess.

    Fav part about the whole thing is that it is under the hood and clean---almost looks factory.

    The blue sea fuse block is powered from the terminal I have my finger via the 100amp circuit breaker pictured here

    My only circuits currently wired into the blue sea fuse block is my OBA system.

    Also I am thinking about adding a small tank so that I can air up faster. Removing the quick connect air hose fitting here

    And installing tubing to a tank I can accomplish adding an air tank remotely somewhere else as I can't fit it under the hood.

    In all I have used my OBA to air up my tires after airing down at the dunes and filling up bike tires for my kids when we have gone camping. One of the better investments IMO.

    I noticed the 40amp fuse in the fuse block, my Blue Sea fuse block(5026) has rated max circuit of 30amps. Is that a special Blue Sea kit one can buy?

    @2chains. No this is the 30A block. It can handle higher amperage. Especially with limited use you shouldn't ever have an issue.

    Thanks for the write up!! Couple questions...

    - Since you linked into the bluesea did you get rid of the 2 inline fuses supplied by ARB?
    - Where did connect the red-yellow ignition wire and blue-white dash illumination wires?

    Never really wired anything before so sorry if those are obvious questions:confused:

    How did you mount to the truck. Did you use the pre-existing holes there already? If so how did you get to them. Last question, what material and what gauge did you use for the bracket? Thanks and awesome work by the way. I'm planning on getting the smaller 6 point box and stumbled across this and really like your work!
