i dont usually turn to posting for help but ive gotten myself in a real pickle please advise...

heres the situation. in my 2005 trd offroad taco i had installed an arb in my front diff. the guy who installed it is a trusted mechanic that i has worked on toyotas for several years.

i got the diff back as an assembled ready to drop in/one piece. i installed it but when it came time to test... i got a blinking 4wd light upon acc on and the 4wd drive system won't come out of what ever mode it is stuck in.

There were three things that i changed:
    1. the diff
    2. i lengthened the vent from the top of the diff housing to a high on the firewall.
    3. i lengthened what i thought think is another vent off the front 4wd actuator located on the half axle tube that locks the hub together. (heres another concern) i am reading in the fsm that the "vent" is called a vacuum line which leads me to believe that i should be hooked into a vac source. i do not have it hooked this way, it in fact is only connected to the the 4wd motor, 6 feet of vacuum line, and then onto the special one way pcv type piece at the end.

i have several questions but dont know where to turn so i figure there would be someone with some idea of what i can test/try to help me trouble shoot. here are a few known things:

*the air locker does actuate and the driver side wheel does turn when i select front locker. the pass side front wheel does nothing. and feels like its detached from stub shaft regardless of 2wd or 4wd setting

*the propeller drive is always turning, regardless of 2wd or 4wd setting ( im not sure if this indicates the t case is stuck on or if it is supposed to always be turning)

*im leaning towards the vacuum actuator because I've taken it clean off and tried to cycle it by selecting (2wd/4wd) the motor within does not move the shift fork at all. but not sure if its a mechanical failure or i am supposed to have it hooked to an actual vac source like one is lead to believe. unless im overlooking it i dont see a place where it originally plumbed into vac.

ARB has nothign to do with the 4wd system unless you try to mes with the wires. but
In front diff actuator there is this position switch that tells 4wd computer if front diff is engaged. I am suspecting during the install it was put together incorrectly or somehow damaged and now thinks is engaged. Thats your most likely culprit of the flashing light.
First thing to try would be to see if computer is just locked so disconnecting battery would be step 1 to take.

Step two would be to check if actuator thinks its engaged.
Look at FSm wiring to find correct wires to check..

Unless you have manual hubs, the front drive shaft will always turn, regardless if you are in 2WD, or 4WD. The ADD system only disco's the one side of the front diff.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You are not engaging the front axle. You have one breather and one vacuum line. The vacuum line is what slides the shaft fork over to engage the axle.

    I have to disagree,

With the ADD system in two wheel drive, the spider gears spin inside the diff,
but the ring gear , pinion gear and front drive shaft
    don't turn.

Alright. The front DS on my Dodge spins in 2WD. It has auto hubs. Maybe someone can take a short vid on the front DS being driven in 2wd?

I know the vac. Line is very important. I broke one on a old truck and it did the same thing.

I understand how the driver side sleeve engages to lock the half axle to the diff but what happens on the passenger side. Is it the same as the drivers side?
Sorry I don't mean to hijack the thread. Just want to understand how it works
