Planning to install an air locker but undecided on the front or rear diff. Budget wont allow to do both at once. If I install in the rear will I lose the limited slip? Or is it better to install in the front first and the rear later after I save up more monies?

You don’t have real limited slip, it’s electronic. Do the rear and don’t look back.

You’re probably going to hear this a few times here soon so I’ll get it out of the way: Asking the question at all makes me think you should avoid a front locker all together.

Front Locker on these trucks should probably be done when there are no other mods to make and used sparingly. Lockers can be hard on IFS.

Rear locker and front winch combo is not bad and the direction i will be going. It will be plenty for me and where i take my truck

Thanks but why should I avoid it just by asking?

    if you have to ask...

rear locker first if you don't have one. if you don't know why to do the rear before adding a front to an IFS truck, then you really must do more research to avoid totally tearing your shit up.

Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to increase off road capabilities as my budget allows. So far have RCI steel skids, and Demello rock sliders installed. Also planning all terrain tires (when stocks wear out) and suspension upgrade (probably Bilstein 5100s with OME coils and a 3-leaf AAL) soon. Then the rear locker followed by the front at some later point. Also have TRD Pro intake/catback, and OVtune installed. Is there anything else I shouls consider?

Good advice, I'll do more research, but sounds like I should just do the rear. Just thought that since the sport has rear limited slip, should do the front first.

rear first would be the consensus, yes. if you need to add a front, then you may need to do more than just the ARB. but you'll almost always use the rear locker first off road.

Roger that. May just do an SSO Slimeline bumper with winch as riz_atx suggests.

Bumping an old thread because I'm finally putting in a rear ARB locker. Bought this for $385 off eBay, we'll see when it arrives, if it arrives from Slovakia. Whichever the case, it was $600 less than any other ARB RD232. Gives me a month to get the compressor installed.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/ARB-4x4-Accessories-RD232-Air-Locker-Differential-Rear-Hilux-2015/132892436508?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Anyone know a reputable shop or person in SE Pennsylvania that can install the actual locker, please let me know. This one I can't do myself.

Video makes it look easy. Only two things holding me back... tools and skills. lol

Nice find, keep us posted. I decided to do the rear but haven't don it yet. Hopefully can find a good deal like you.

Yeah I’ll put in the compressor, but need to find a shop or person to install the locker, don’t want to do it myself the first time.

I ended up with both front and rear locker and a winch. Haven't needed the front locker yet but the rear has been used

Nice. Started collecting Special Combat Governments so had to put off the locker/winch temporarily but still on the to do list.

Do you actually wheel your truck? If you're asking advise what "mods" to add to your truck then it sounds like you're just arbitrarily spending money. Enjoy your truck for what it is man.

Short answer... no. I don't go looking for places to "wheel" here in South Florida but just want to improve off road capabilities for emergencies or when I end up somewhere else. :fingerscrossed: And I am enjoying it.

Haha. It's obviously your money so your choice but Florida is flat as a pancake. I'd spend the money on something else fun like a motorcycle or trips to cool places.

We’ll see if I even get the locker. It’s coming from Slovakia. Most sellers on the internet overseas are worthless pieces of shit. We’ll see if they come through.
