ARB Rated Recovery Point

Just got the email about it from ARB.
Steep price but I know other members on here that agree, a properly tested, and rated recovery point is invaluable for safe, and reliable recoveries.

ARB is saying release of July. So I will definitely be ordering, and will post about it once it comes.
There's been plenty of threads on here about front recovery points and I know plenty that think something that just bolts to the factory tow hook point is good enough. After seeing failed recoveries from those points and just any hoisting and rigging that has failed because of parts not rated for what was being done, no thanks. Rather not risk it, especially not in the bush where help can be hours away.

Nice recovery hook. It'll go nicely with my ARB bumper I just bought for the taco.

Wee bit pricey but it's a proper recovery one and rated unlike a lot of the other ones currently offered.

 

I've been looking for something like this and I like the design. The price is a bit steep but maybe that means we need a group buy.

Ya famous last words. Heard the same thing from a foreman that one 1/2" drop in anchor is good enough for a pulley that we were pulling off of with a 15 000lb tugger. Needless to say that anchor failed and I got to watch a 24inch pulley shatter when it hit the ground and take a huge chunk of concrete out with it. Had anyone been under it, they'd be dead.
Last thing I want to see anything close to when I'm out in the bush.

It is pricey but so are all ARB products and for good reason...they make a good product

If you don't wheel where you can really get stuck and need someone to snatch strap recover you out then no need for you.

But if you ever want to use one the factory Toyota point is not rated for snatch recoveries. Only there for a tow truck to pull you onto a flat bed with or maybe winch you out of a ditch from.

Recovery points should be rated for roughly 3-4 times the weight of the vehicle. These being rated for 17,000lbs

And do research behind each. They're the only one that makes a bumper that meets airbag ratings. Which can really impact your coverage in an accident.

MAP pricing is $246.05. Not much of a savings. Unless we get a vendor that will do it for before MAP.

 

I'm not sure the mounting points are rated for what the hook is rated for!

I saw. It was mostly a joke... mostly. Will the Taco frame handle it?

 

I'd assume that ARB did enough testing to confirm it's strong enough to handle

 

I'm sure the recovery point is. The frame of the Taco? Maybe. Go slow.

 

it bolts to the factory location from what I can see, as well as the frame. So 3 bolts in factory location then 2-4 from what I see in pictures around the frame. Pretty sure the frame is there as a buffer, most energy is likely being sent to the 3 bolts in the factory location.

 

I'm not questioning the ability of the hook. I'm curious if the Taco Frame can hold up to 17,000 lbs.

meh, its not saying those loads will be applied. Just its rated to that. And its in a safety stand point. Damaged vehicle is better than loss of life, which could result from faulty rigging say a tow hook being ripped off and launched into someone.

 

It really all comes down to how do intend to use your taco. Are you going to be going places where there is a chance you are going to need to be pulled out? Or are you just just doing grated dirt roads. If your going to places where you may need to be pulled out and don't have $1000 to spend on a new front bumper or don't like the way they look then something like this makes more sense. It uses the stock location but beefs it up to handle actually being used. The price is high but like it's been said already ARB has been around a long time and I'm sure they have done a lot of R&D to put their name it.

 

So.. is this only for the 16 & 17's? or compatible with all ARB Bull bars?
