im going to revive this thread.

Ive been trying to sight in my bow every day for 6 days, and every time i shoot its way off.

Ill shoot 20 arrows, after the first 10 ill get it sighted in, the last 10 im hitting bulls eyes at 20 yards in a consistent grouping. I set the bow down for a while or stop for the day and start the next day.
Then i move out to 30 or 40 yards and its perfectly centered, come back and make the same shots an hour later without touching the bow and they are way right.

The next time i shoot, or the next day the arrows are grouping way left or right, low or high. it is seriously pissing me off.
Im pretty sure im shooting the same way, stance ect every time. this happen to anyone?

Im shooting a PSE stinger, 29" draw. #55.

then the last group i shot was about 3inches below the bulls eye (didnt get a pic). 15 mins after shooting that one.

Dylan, try shooting only a few every day. Have it by the door or something and just step out and fire 2 or so at the taget and quit. Long shooting sessions are not good when sighting a bow in imo.

it could be one of 2 things or both:
    1) you are tourqing the bow. try playing around with your grip, hold it loose, make sure it is resting in the crease of your hand, and let the bow
fall forward. if you are gripping the bow tight, it is twisting in your hand. it will not be all that obvious 25 yards and in, but at longer distances, it will cause problems like you are having.

    2) the amout you are bending your elbow. little changes in the amount
you have your elbow bent, can throw you off alot, especially at longer distances.

get a kisser, and use the smallest peep that you feel comfortable with.

i got obsessed setting up a new bow.

here is what i gleaned. inconsistency left/right..it is usually hand torque for me. i only use the web of my thumb index to hold the bow. i push my index back into the riser.

inconsistency up/down is trickier. is the nock point snug? i mean, can your arrows slide up and down between the d-loop knots? or you are dropping your bow hand at the shot. in reality it is right before the shot.

put an arrow in the bow, close your eyes and draw back (finger off trigger!)..settle into your anchor point..open your eyes. is your peep perfect? or do you have to move your face to see thur center? nose still barely touching string?

Im getting the fever already and we still months away, worst part is I have to rush practise in 2 or 3 days just to hunt while home. I planned my r&r right during the Rut so family might be a little upset with me.

this was my problem!! i did exactly that like 20 mins ago, and bam i was looking over my peep sight! i adjusted it, adjusted the sight and now im shooting darn near perfect. still getting the occasional left or right from hand troche but im trying to get better.

I think i have to take a few days off cause my left shoulder is killing me for letting the bow down. i hope i didnt tear anything

Sounds like you got it. Left to right is almost always a torque problem up and down is a peep/head/sight problem. Find a solid anchor, one you can find everytime you draw your bow. Use a couple points of reference (I use the tip of my nose and corner of my mouth for the points od contact on my string). Also if you have to move your head to see through your peep it needs adjusted. Keep your bow hand loose do not grip or hold the bow just let it settle into your hand. Good luck sounds like you are on the right track

Not to be that guy but you may want to turn poundage of your bow down a bit. Your shoulder should never hurt from letting the bow down. I would say most guys hunting have there bows maxed out for no other reason then the macho gotta have my bow a 70lbs thing. I turned my bow down to 60 a few years ago and I can shoot better and longer than before. I can shoot 70 no problems but I want to be able to shoot when Im 50 and 60 as well. There are alot of old archers out there with tore up shoulders from shooting high poundage. Trust me you dont need 70lbs for most game turn it down your shoulders will thank you.

    glad i could help!!

now about the shoulder. can you draw the bow back while sitting in a chair? if so, you are good. i have macho friends that need to contort, aim at the sky, etc to pull their bows back. they are clearly over bowed.

now about hurting yourself letting down is a different story. with the more aggresive cams, the let off is getting more and more harsh. my Z7 simply wants to take off in my hands. i yanked back an ELITE and i could let off halfway, come back let off completely...all smooth. i will buy an ELITE soon. i think letting off slowly is a GREAT benefit hunting. an animal will see a jerky let off more easily than a smooth quiet one.
