Enjoy your bow! Thanks to bowhunting, there are 4 months a year I am "unavailable".

From the research I did, the cams were necessary, it was at 27.5 and I needed it at 30.5, and the ones on it weren't that adjustable

I plan on it. It is a laser now, very consistent. I've got about 20yards in the backyard to at least start getting it sighted in properly without having to dick around on their range.

$50 for arrows is an absolute steal. Mine are over $150 fletched. Just know that if you don’t lose arrows, wax the string and take care of it, it will last you years and years. I know it’s expensive, but it’s a one time investment for the most part. Get to shooting and get it dialed in and get ready for slamming some deer!

If you're starting out with archery with a compound bow and needing to replace those parts, it seems worth it. I just bought strings for $120. Arrows usually run $100 for bare shafts for me. Buying the module to change the length, and providing he tuned it, that's a good deal. I'm so particular setting up my bow that it take hours timing the cams, the lean, and paper tuning. In the end missing a target usually means user error. Sometimes it's worth just paying someone to do it.

That's a great adventure you had there. I don't know if I could handle camping out for 4 days alone, so I give you credit. Sounds like you did the best you could and I think the hunting scene could use more people like you that care. I don't have big game like that where I live (Big Island, Hawaii), but I've had my share of ups and downs hunting, tracking, and worry. What kind of smaller game do you hunt?

That was really my question, if that was about "standard". Yes it was fully setup I guess. Picture is second group at 10 yards, realigning the sights. I'm not sure what arrows they are, the Eastons I had were too short, donated to somebody who could use them. I'm sure I'll experiment with nicer arrows and other parts, but figure I'll get a good baseline on this before I start looking at what I don't like about it

Do you plan to hunt with your bow? If so, and if you plan on using fixed blade broadheads, look into paper tuning your setup to make sure your field points and broadheads will fly the same. Or, just use mechanical heads with your current setup since they'll mimic field points. Otherwise, if you're planning on target shooting, you may want to consider different aim points. You will likely start damaging your arrows shooting at 10yds and one target. If you want a cheap target, use shrink wrap and stuff it into a box. I use a toilet box stuffed with shrink wrap and it's lasted me 4 years. I've had to replace the front cardboard though.

I'll be shooting 20 yards in the backyard. 20 was just to check and make sure everything was close-ish, baseline. Not sure if I'm going to hunt or not yet. I was gonna do the compressed cardboard target, or maybe carpet

A few things... Glad your shoulder is getting better. Second, that group is not bad at 20. Always room to improve, but that goes for pretty much anyone unless you are Robin Hood. The other thing is, you can always let them get 30 yards and under and you won’t have any issues. At 20 if your groups are decent like that you should not have any problems at only 10 yards further than that.
One more thing, if you don’t leave your quiver on while you are hunting don’t leave it on when you practice. I have a quiver but I don’t shoot with it on and when I get it the tree it immediately comes of and I hang it somewhere.

Take your time and don’t overwork your shoulder I have had mine operated on also and it took me some time to get everything normal again. Luckily I could start shooting pretty quickly since I was super determined to not let it hold me back.

Never thought about taking the quiver off just always have it on unless it’s in the case. Will try it thanks.

From the pic it looks like you may have a Mathews, but even if it’s not it can still be done. This is what I have. And there are other options out there also. The added weight of the quiver and having the arrows hanging down is something I try and avoid when I’m in a tree. Any other time the quiver is on. You can keep your quiver bracket on when you hunt and practice but the quiver can come off I you want to give it a try and see if you like it or not.
